Roy's speed and reflexes win the day. Canelo would be befuddled trying to get inside while getting tagged from every angle coming in. Remember, up until the BJS stoppage, Billy Joe was holding his own and making Canelo miss quite a bit. BJS is no Roy Jones.

Jones is all wrong for him as Canelo's methodical boxing would work against him

I think people forget how other worldly Roy was at 168. He washes Canelo and that is no disrespect to Canelo. Styles make fights and Canelo don't have the tools to deal with that Roy. Hell, not many in history do.

I don't think this goes well for Nelo. I want to see him beat up a guy with as many tools as RJJ. Nelo > J Jackson, G Man, Barkley ( :lol1: ), Hearns, Benn, Maybe Hop (Hop will make this one 'dirty' fight), Toney, Paul Willie, Maybe Sergio (he was a slick MFer), Joe Cal.....

Meanwhile “Crawford vs Spence” Not sure why anyone would care about Crawford vs. Spence when there is a terminator in the super middleweight division with the power to shatter the orbital bone of a super heavyweight. Canelo is like a more extreme version of Deontay Wilder, he can get outboxed for rounds, but once he lands, the opponent willl end up having career ending surgery. If you put Anthony Joshua in the ring with Canelo Alvarez he will run scared all night like Kovalev. Ward said he was going t fight AJ after beating Kovalev, so Canelo should do the same.

Jones would absolutely DESTROY him It would be a lop sided victory. More wide than GGG won. James Toney absolutely schools Canelo as well as Hopkins.

Prime RJJ is too fast for Canelo and for anyone else, for that matter

A prime RJJ at 168 is the best ever at that weight. Prime vs Prime, RJJ wins. Now career vs Career, I think Canelo has had a better career than RJJ and it's only going to get better. Sugar Ray Robinson vs RJJ at 168 is a fun discussion too. It's all personal preference of how you rank guys all time. Canelo has had a better career than RJJ to me, so he gets a higher spot on my all time rankings. Another fan might rank them based heavier on prime vs prime, they might have RJJ higher on their all time list. If Canelo continues his domination for 5 more years, he's going to be in the discussion for the best ever with names like Ali, Floyd Jr, and SRR.

RJJ is the man from the other times. he was a huge 168 guy and he also had a style to beat Canelo.

I think Canelo is a great fighter, already a HOFer, and is the current P4P number 1 fight. Having said all of that - There is NO CHANCE he beats a prime RJJ at 168. First, nobody historically is beating Jones at 168. Period. Second, this is a horrible style match-up for Canelo; Fast fighters who can fight on the outside have taken many rounds off Canelo. Few examples: Lara - Not only did Lara frustrate and outbox Canelo in many points of the fight. A large portion believe that Lara outright won the fight. Regardless of where you stand on who won, we can all agree that the fight was competitive and Lara was able to frustrate and take many rounds by using his feet. Saunders - Yes, Canelo knocked him out. But I had it 4-4 going into the 9th and Saunders had a pretty easy time jabbing and moving around Canelo in many of those rounds. Saunders' feet were considerably faster than Canelo's and if that punch doesn't break the orbital bone we would see the fight continue to be close with Saunders having a good deal of success (as long as he keeps moving laterally behind the jab). Kovalev - There is a bit of historical revision going on with this fight. Canelo did not dominate and KO Kovalev. He was out-jabbed for large portions of the fight and at the time of the KO the fight was close from what I remember. Of course Canelo was coming on and closing the gap with Kovalev but that was already the 11th round. For 10 rounds Kovalev was able to keep Canelo from landing just by moving and throwing shots from the outside. Golovkin 2 - Golovkin nearly beat Canelo by boxing backwards in this fight and he was probably slower than Canelo at this point! RJJ at 168 is considerably fast than any of those fighters. Canelo would have trouble following Jones around the ring. He would be bleeding rounds all fight long and I could see Jones winning a wide UD 117-111 type of a fight.

Jones would win buy a wide UD. Might even stop him. He'd have Canelo tatted up, huffing and puffing by round 6.

glassjaw jones would get his peanut head launched into orbit by a Canelo hook. hardest puncher in sport history. he can punch you in the cheek and burst your eye socket shattering both the cheek and the eye socket. never been done before in prize fighting history. Jones is a dead man.
