Jeez i was hyped after the weigh in and thought Jacobs and Canelo would be going all out and give us a great fight, try to knock each other out and what did we get? An unimpressive, mediocre fight.
Canelo didnt even throw 500 punches. Jacobs wasnt really trying to win and boxed too carefully. Hey both got a nice paycheck at least, right?
Very disappointed in both fighters.
I'm more disappointed in the undercard the main event went about the way I thought it would
The young welter looked exciting, I’ve never heard of him before, Ortiz.
Rest of the bill was total dog ****
Their styles nullified each other and nobody wanted to fully commit, the fight actually showed why Floyd boxed circles around him, Canelo had trouble landing on Danny and DJs footwork is like molasses compared to Floyds boxing, the same Floyd that beat Canelo back then would beat him now.
I expected more from this fight, the entire show was flat and staring at an stationary arena camera for 30 minutes in a PPV event displays a terrible production team for a fight of this level.
It wasn't "BORED" BUT it wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be BUT it was a very entertaining Chess Match
Still think they should've stayed on the East Coast at MSG. The Better Boxing Fans are on the East Coast IMO :dunno: Las Vegas is not the Mecca anymore, the energy from the crowd felt so LOW last night. Or maybe it was just the way DAZN was covering it made the event feel so DRY
I must say though, Boxing so called "Big Match Ups" seems to never live up to its expectations honest and never finish in Dramatic Fashion. This is where Heavyweight Boxing can take back over here in the US. When AJ and Wilder fight...it is guaranteed somebody getting knocked out so they need to hurry up and make that happen after June 1st
OP is a GGG fan which explains the topic, sneaky sneaky.
Anyway, Jacobs looked the much bigger man with a significant reach advantage so Canelo had to fight smart and make sure that his defence was working while still scoring points. That in itself was interesting and a good example of a class boxer who valued the health of his brain long term. He was there to hit and not be hit.

Yup canelo just don’t have a second gear. and the underdog didn’t have the sense of urgency to win either
What??? Canelo fought an awesome fight. It was an easy UD win, the judges and most on here agree.
Some fans are straight retarded on here. Why do I keep coming back to this place? LolOk fanboy, so why was Jacobs still standing after 12 rounds then? He wasn't hard to find. Ginger threw less than 500 punches for the entire fight. Which is an average of at least 40 punches per round.
The fight was boring and fought at a very slow pace thanks to Canelo Alvarez. Jacobs was the huge underdog going into the fight so the onus was on Canelo to look impressively but he did not. He fared worst in this fight than he did in the rematch with Golovkin.
Had Jacobs been more active and busier enough he could have easily won this fight hands down.
I thought it was a pretty good fight but if you hate Canelo you probably hated the way he was making Jacobs look slow and cautious. Interesting to see how good Canelo's jab was tonight. He was catching Danny with it so much and you would have expected Jacobs to be the one with the better jab seeing that he's the longer fighter with good speed....But Canelo had better speed, more intelligent movement, better defense and better offense. It was an interesting clash of styles. I think Canelo is just the better fighter of the two.
I disagree with most of you, I actually thought it was a really good fight. The majority of rounds were very close and I personally scored it a draw (although could not argue with the judges as many were close).
My initial thoughts were actually to watch a replay but am thinking Jacobs vs Andrade and Canelo vs GGG3 maybe a better combo for later in the year
It was definitely far from a fan friendly/crowd pleasing performance that's for sure. This has to rank up there with one of Canelo Alvarez' worst performances ever.
This is his worst perform since Erislandy Lara. I just wonder how could he struggle to put punches together against Danny Jacobs but not against Gennady Golovkin?

Not a very good fight, I agree. But I think Canelo's skills kind of froze Jacobs in there. For the first half of the fight or so, he didn't have any idea how to make things happen. I doubt that he expected to be faced with reflexes that quick. To his credit, he brought it harder when Canelo started to get tired. But not enough.
I think deep down, Danny was stunned by this and didn't have answers.
Had Canelo had the energy, he could have continued making Jacobs look silly missing all night, winning every round.
Danny didn't plan on Canelo's slickness, at all.
I thought it was a good fight. Wish Jacobs wouldn't have waited on Canelo as much as he did and been first. Maybe bum fights are more up your alley if you just want to see 2 dudes winging it with no skill

However, at the same time Canelo didn't exactly put his combination punches together either. He missed a lot of punches also. He was mostly landing single punches at a time; A far cry from his last performance against GGG. Why did he struggle to land punches on Danny Jacobs is a deep mystery?
