He showed great defense imo. He got touched less than Hughie Fury and damaged less too. Hughie Fury was moving backwards 100% of the fight, it's easier to have better defense when the other guy is lunging at you. but nope.
I actually think he'd have a shot against the likes of Joshua and Wilder due to his defense alone.
Let's not act like those 2 have iron chins. If they open up on Parker thinking he's a bum, he might just knock them out in exchanges. Parker actually does have a great chin too.
Watch his recent 'fight' with the club doorman Cojanu, and then tell me he's not absolute garbage at world level. I reckon he'll do what every average fighter with a decent chin does and cash out in the 7th against AJ.
That was a late replacement and Cojanu was literally his sparring partner, so it's not a surprise it looked like a sparring match. Parker has one asset in particular that puts him above average and that's nice fast hands that he puts together well - the problem is that he needs to set his feet to get off, so if a guy moves like Fury then they take that away from him. As I said, I don't think he'll beat AJ or Wilder but he's certainly more dangerous than a Breazeale or Duhaupas
I rate him. He's a strong guy with a good chin on him. Can go 12 rounds, no problem.Packs good power as well. The 12th round vs Fury was a good example. I think he landed one huge right finally which left Hughie gasping. Shows he doesn't tire easy.
He'll be a good test for anyone in the HW division.
YES I do think people are underrating him and that will be a mistake. Parker still only 25 years old, he is not a finished product yet but so far...I like what I'm seeing from him. Excellent Stamina, great hand speed but of course still some things to refine before jumping in with AJ
People are underrating him today on the basis that he looked poor against a world class spoiler. Hughie may be ****e as a total package but he has the fleetest feet in the division by a long shot and it's never easy to look good against someone 100% focused on defence.

Look at the levels they've fought at, Fury has an extensive amateur pedigree and schooled Rudenko who beat Lucas Browne if you actually watched that fight. Peter Fury based Tyson Fury's style on the style he'd already crafted with Hughie.
Joshua didn't knock Klitschko out and going in all likelihood would have gassed not getting Klitschko out like he did six rounds earlier after blowing his load, only for Klitschko to be unable to finish him as his reflexes at 41 and 18 months removed from ring action clearly hindered him against the 27 year old 'infant'.
Wilder has fought nobody except Stiverne who fought Wilder just like Hughie did last night, to survive. Stiverne has one notable win, the carcass of Arreola. You gonna tell me Stiverne is any better than Hughie, I know you will because you're a mug, the whole forum knows it. Give us more to laugh at.
There's 3 to 4 heavyweights that can really fight. All the rest are on the same level to me. And I don't see Parker as one of those 3 to 4 guys.
I agree he is underrated. I think he's fought 3 pretty good fighters in the last 18 months in Takam, Ruiz, and Fury. Hughie has pedigree and was undefeated, I don't think Wilder or Joshua would have an easy time with him either.
so hes underrated cuz he got a split decision against a guy who just moved backwards all night with 0 power
He looked sloppy and quite frankly just poor

One promising takeaway was that Parker's stamina issues seemed to be resolved. It's obvious that he's not in the same league as Joshua and Wilder as an athlete but he does at least seem to be a natural fighter, not a late starter or convert from another sport. He'll be an underdog against those guys but a live one. I'd pick him to beat Whyte, Haye and Bellew though
Wilder and Joshua are knocking dudes out and this guy is squeaking by and you really think he's on the same level?

Yet still beat them, Hughie fought exactly how Wilder would fight him if they fought each other, only Wilder wouldn't be able to move like Furry and be mauled to a stoppage, shame we won't ever see it as we'll get Parker vs Joshua first.

This dude shouldn't be rated at all. There's nothing dynamic about him and he's done nothing but squeak by his average opposition.

I just found out the fight was in England so sorry about that mistake. I thought the fight was held in New Zealand.I think Parker is good but not the best heavyweight today.
Parker will have a win over the Whyte then he'll cash out versus Joshua. I don't see Wilder getting past Ortiz and I neither see any demand for Ortiz vs AJ. Joshua himself has reiterated he's not in the sport for the long haul and I guess he'll likely fighting Joyce and Dubois down the line.
Joshua facing Pulev and Parker are by no means given victories, id favour AJ but he'll deserve credit for beating these guys, im not sure how much credit he deserves for going life and death with a geriatric Klitschko 18 months removed from the ring on the back of two poor performances against Fists of Fluff Furry and Jennings.
Underrated? Yh probably but we'll have to disagree on his defense.
Its not difficult to look defensively sound against a guy who is practically fighting in survival mode occasionally flicking out a weak ass 'leave me alone jab'. All single shots, no combinations even his jab was thrown half ar5ed.
Like a big, more timid, cr4pper version of Miguel Vasquez.
If he can't do better against Hughie than he did then he isn't underrated and he won't beat Ortiz, Wilder or AJ in my opinion. Getting a split decision in his backyard over Hughie isn't very impressive.
