that Thurman believes he's actually a better boxer than he actually is?
I think Thurman when in the ring boxing believes in his mind he's Sugay Ray Leonard or something when in reality his boxing skills aren't elite what so ever, more closer to above average. He gets hit way too much and always ends up in a dog fight for someone with supposed elite boxing skills and ring IQ.
When Thurman faces a high level boxer with a good chin we'll see how limited of a boxer he actually is.
I got Spence as leading the 147 pack and Crawford being his ultimate test when he moves up.
Peace
I am not even a Thruman fan. Hoped he'll lose to Soto-Karass or to someone else.
But I already give him credit to what he has done.
He's a midget WW (5'7), may not be the most skillful but he can be exciting. Has a fan-pleasing style. And he's got a belt.
One Time already beat Soto Karass mate.

If that's the case then little Gamboa exposed Crawford to have a weak chin?and exposed his flaw that he can't take a hit when are people are going to stop comparing boxers and give boxers their credit.
Thurman lost to Porter if we're being fair and it's because he thought he could "out box" the busier, stronger fighter. Lets see what happens when theres a rematch.
So far he's lived up to his confidence. He beat two top 5, tough opponents back to back. Not everyone is going to be the next Ray Leonard. But I'm more than happy to watch the next Donald Curry, Ike Quartey or Vernon Forrest.
danny garcia was not top 5. i have no idea how he was even in the top 10. shot malignaggi and guerrero? that was a he has a name lets rank him type of thing.
so a guy who hasn't fought top 5 or a champ yet is the next best thing & a guy who is a division below WW is a legit threat to anyone in the division? SMDH..
Thurman has proven his worth & some.. Haters will hate, but he will do his thing & prove himself..
I'd favor Thurman over everyone at WW.. Crawford will be a good addition at WW but I see Thurman, Spence & Brook to be too strong for Crawford..
Thurman is one of those fighters with frantic styles. As opposed to others which is more intuitive and can gingerly wait for every opponent's move to counter.
Big one time fan I think he is just versatile as hell when he was first on the scene he was knocking dudes out left and right as he progressed up the ladder he wisened up and started using his boxing iq more just like any other great fighter has shown.
Why do you have different standards? the ATG fighters you compare him to had losses... yet him having "close" fights is worse than that?
The man is good, no doubt about that.
Is he supposed to have the mentality of young newcomer who can't hang with the big boys in that ring? You want him to portray himself like he's nothing special, when he's an unified undefeated 2 time champion at welterweight?
Nothing but hate for One Time but no problem, keep lining them up, he'll keep beating you favorite boxers :beerchug:
Well said.
Thurman doesn't get any love on here or in the boxing community in general, barring a few long time fans. There isn't an active fighter 28 or under, with a better resume than One Time, except maybe Canelo. He's a unified champ in the best division in boxing and still overlooked.
