I know this has been beat to death already, but take the Ward/Kovalev fight for example, as soon as it was announced we heard the term boxer versus puncher at nauseam. I assume that most people here are "Hardcores" but if that regurgitated statement doesn't completely brain wash you, it at the very least predisposes you to some potentially bias thinking. For instance I originally gave Ward round three of the fight, but on the second watch I really can't see my reasoning behind that. In fact the only admirable thing that Ward did that round was not being knocked out,and the only legitimate criticism that can be passed along to Kovalev was that he didn't finish Ward off. What is worse this way of thinking seemed to be almost encourage by Kellerman during the telecast.
Lampley was pro Kovalev calling punches that clearly missed. Lederman was pro Kovalev he even gave round 9 t Kovalev. Kellerman was the most neutral saying rounds that were close could go either way.
Kellerman seemed pro Ward. He ignored many good punches that Kovalev landed. Lampley sounded like a total retard. He was clearly rooting for Kovalev. His commentary was embarrassing.
How did Kovalev finish strong, don't tell me you scored that right hook
Forget the Orgasm that Lampley had at the end of the 10th over a punch that didn't even land but Kovalev seem to got a bit of a second wind the second half of the 10th and started landing that stiff jab again and got in a few good shots towards the end of that round which I thought was enough to pull it even at the very least but if some give it to Ward or Kovalev I won't argue it because again that is how close I thought the fight was :dunno:

There were a few random glove grazes/taps here and there, but these were these were the only notable punches punches I saw in round 3. You must be blind as hell if you didn't see Ward do anything "admirable" here. Ward landed the best head snapping punches in this round IMO. I got no problem if you scored it for Kovalev though.
Highlight
And round 3 was a round Ledderman gave to Kovalev. What manipulation?

Manny Pacquiao showed up and **** the bed, yet (given a little nudge from *******s) the media, given a little bit of time, was able to try and completely absolve Pacquiao of his **** performance, while also trying to shift the blame for the fight onto Floyd (who showed up and basically did the same things he'd done for the 47 prior fights).
The media spins the story however they want to spin the story; the objective sport/non-boxing press, in putting together their stories for the fight, focus largely on Ward performing poorly early, settling things out in the next couple rounds, and then using his grit and guile on the inside (with Kovalev tiring down the stretch) to edge enough rounds to win the fight.
To hear the "boxing press" tell it, Kovalev was beating the dog**** out of Ward early, the fight happened, and then the American judges in America (on some Cold War bull****) simply decided to rob the champion.
No I had Round 10 EVEN which is a round people keep talking about but it was EVEN IMO with Kovalev finishing that round strong to at least even it
So with a Even Round YES a Draw is VERY POSSIBLE and that is how I end up with a DRAW!

I also originally gave the 3rd to Ward, but gave it to Kovalev afterwards.
But of all 4 commentators, Kellerman had the best eyes. That old man scoring was bull****

Ah gotcha bro :beerchug:
I agree with most of this post, other than "this fight can't be a draw" part which is just a mathematical fact. If you score a 10-8 round (eg. Kov rd 2) and all your other rounds are scored 10-9 (eg. no other knockdowns, no ref deductions, no super one sided rounds, no even rounds), you literally cannot construct a card that is a draw.

the boxer vs puncher trope is also known as the sven ottke strategy. if the sven ottke boxer type(andre ward) simply survives the fight he will be given the decision. fanboys will then use deductive reasoning to explain why sven/ward won. they will find ways to explain away poor judging: give more emphasis to unclean body work then clean shots, say things like it could have gone either way(if you ignore punch count, clean punches sure), or just use the good ole he outboxed him line.
No actually I think Media kinda plays into what the fans want to hear instead of being HONEST, they did it for the Pacquiao ERA and it has breaded some of the worse fans ANY SPORT HAS EVER SEEN! Now we have fans who scream robbery even when it doesn't apply just because they don't want to admit that they was WRONG. Kovalev vs Ward is too close to be considered a Robbery and forgive me for being born before Millennials who didn't think boxing existed before Mayweather and Pacquiao so I have seen FAR WORSE Decisions that Ward vs Kovalev. Whitaker vs Chavez Sr was a far worse Robbery than Ward vs Kovalev which again was too close to scream "ROBBERY!". Oscar De La Hoya vs Whitaker, Lennox Lewis vs Holyfield 1, Oscar De La Hoya vs Felix Sturm, Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz 1 and so many more
I still have it a Draw watching it 4 times now and people b1tch and complain an try to tell me how "THIS FIGHT CAN'T BE A DRAW"? :lol1: You're all Whiny Bias B!TCHES to be honest All Sides both Ward Supporters and Kovalev Supporters then want to make this a Racial Situation. As if Americans haven't been robbed in America as well but that fight last week that was too CLOSE to be called a "ROBBERY" IMO

many people on here kept saying either kov by ko or ward by decision and their self fulfilling prophecy came true even though the punches told a different story
Plenty of media will call out a robbery if that is indeed what they actually see.
The reason you don't see the same kind of visceral reaction from most of the media with Ward-Kovalev is because they did not see a robbery. Lots of media disagreed with the decision but that is not the same as seeing a robbery.

I thought going into the fight the public knew Ward was an Olympic Gold medalist and it dont help your case that the Russian is called ' Krusher ' with 80+ KO percentage.' But tha media made that up.'
Yeah they set the narrative of "boxer vs puncher" to give the impression that Ward is the better boxer (he's not).
So unless Kovalev knocks Ward out or destroys him, the public are led to believe Ward shuffling around the ring means he's outboxing him..
Of course they do, not just the fans, but also the judges are brainwashed as well.
Watch some of Floyd's fights, had they been held in other countries he would have had a couple Losses on his record without doubt.
