HBO just said Russian Ruslan Provodnikov will most likely be budcrawford402's next fight per Bob Arum.

Of course that's if he doesn't get Cotto June 18.
Would you be happy with this fight? At least it would go rounds, Ruslan is never in a bad fight but I can see him taking a beating and his corner pulling him out however he won't go down without a fight. I've said TC is the real deal for a while and I stick by it, not long about people tried to convince me Broner and even Amir Imam were better fighters/prospects.
Provodnikov's last fight:
Sounds like Arum is hoping that Ruslan is shot and being an easy win based off of his last performance and like you said, will provide a good name for the resume. I know that Ruslan said he was "tight" heading into that fight and just couldn't get off. Later on in the fight though, he was landing that vicious left hook on Matts....I guess anything could happen.
Honestly, I think it was an expectation thing on my part because I just rewatched Provo vs Lucas and Provo did much better than I remembered. He came on really strong at the end. I take everything back, Provo is a very live dog
F#ck marinating.
Crawford vs Postol should be happening next. I don't think Postol has any official fight on tap next so I don't know why that isn't happening. Thats a fight all parties, Crawford, Postol, TR & HBO & obviously the fans should be wanting right now.
Ruslan, who I do like, has lost his last 3 of his last (only) 4 meaningful fights & there is no reason to think he'll do anything, but lose vs Crawford.
It's the marination era bro. If it don't make dollars it don't make sense. It's our job has fans to get Postol recognized and we are failing at doing that.
Man, it's not bad but I can't accept that. There are better fights there to be made and no excuse not to make them besides protecting Crawford. It's time to make those fights.
Crawford's resume is being padded at this point. I just hope he fights three times this year. Crawford/Provodnikov with Postol/Granados on the undercard would be a logical step forward, followed by the winners facing off.

Never said he was shot, but it's clear to me that he's done at the elite level of boxing.
I've changed my tune a bit on the fight though, he'd be a nice name on Crawford's resume

I don't think Crawford would lose a round vs Provodnikov
I want to see him vs Postol Next, not sure WTF HBO has against Postol and why they don't want him back on their Network or what is going on but damn why not just make Crawford vs Postol?
That is the fight I want to see, like you, I don't get what HBO's gripe is. I think it has something to do with how Postol beat Matts which wasn't the plan because Matts was their boxer, their "boogeyman" as people liked to refer to him. Now they want to punish him instead of bringing him into the fold.
I don't hate this fight as much as the rest of you guys. Admittedly I might be biased because Ruslan and Bud are both some of my favorite fighters.
I wish those two would have fought last night instead of Lundy.
Provo isn't gonna quit and if he can draw Crawford into a brawl then we could get a great fight. Ruslan was able to make Tim draw, maybe he can do it again. Bud has already showed a pattern of getting angry and trying to hurt guys when they land a few on him. Plus the way Bud starts slow in fights could give Ruslan the opportunity to land a few early, pissing Bud off and making him wanna land big back on Ruslan instead of just winning rounds.
Obviously if Bud stays smart and boxes he's gonna win, but at the very least he's not gonna get an easy KO with Ruslan. Provo will make him earn that stoppage.
How was Provodnikov past it vs Matthysse? Is everyone that loses shot?

Bad fight, though an upgrade from the recent bum tour. Though there's not much talent at the weight classes Crawford's been in, Provodnikov is Postol's former sparring partner. Says it all right there.
Crawford only has like 2 fights at 140, right? Provo would be a test. And it will probably be a more fan friendly fight than Postol too. If he's fighting 3 times this year, I am for it.
