@danrafaelespn: PPV industry source on #MayweatherBerto numbers tells me they're very poor relatively speaking. 'Being generous is might hit 550,000 buys.'
@danrafaelespn: #MayweatherBerto will be Floyd's weakest PPV showing since he first went on PPV with Gatti & Baldomir, fights that were 300k plus. #boxing
@danrafaelespn: Purses for #MayweatherBerto main event alone was $36M. If PPV does even 550k it nets around $20M. Lot to make up with gate & other revenue.
Not really a surprise but will come as a disappointment for Shosports who may potentially have a made a loss on THIS particular Mayweather PPV considering the expenses for the solid undercard fights and Mayweather's $32 million purse guarantee (Floyd claims he's making $71/72 million)
To use Ronda's argument about per minute pay against her I think Floyd crushed her in per PPV Buyer pay doe. $30M for 550k buys & maybe $5M-$7M for 1M buys.
No argument there. But Ronda is now the highest paid fighter in UFC and that is saying a lot. I congratulate her on her success and hope it continues in her upcoming movie career.
Everyone relies on their opponent. Think Tyson (vs McNeeley) & Holyfied (vs Foreman) had some novelty level PPV buys but the rule is the strength of the opponent increases or decreases PPV numbers accordingly. Manny found out the same thing vs Rios (475k) & Algieri (350k).
That has always been the case except for, strangely enough, Ronda Rousey. People tuned in to watch Floyd lose and they tune in to watch Rousey utterly destroy whoever is standing in front of her. And considering the level of competition in women's UFC, it is a remarkable statement that she drives the numbers she does.
I think Golovkin has the chance to attract fans in much the same way as Rousey does, by destroying his opponents as badly and as fast as possible. I hope his team gets that idea through to him that carrying someone for a few rounds is really not required to make the fans happy and satisfied. I'd rather see GGG destroy Lemieux in one round than see Floyd dance, duck and run for 12. I think that by doing so, GGG could pick up a lot of cross over UFC fans for his fights. Especially with Rousey talking about him at every opportunity.
Showtime is going to make the numbers look decent but I don't know why, not like it matters anyway. Game Is Over! He shattered and OWNS every PPV and Gate Record, he really don't even need that extra $30+ Million but he would have been stupid to leave it on the table. The did not put a lot of money into promoting this one, I'm sure they knew.
What are people going to say "Mayweather Is Not A Draw" :lol1:
While it end up being a solid card surprisingly, with a Mainevent like that, this card probably shouldn't even break 300K, 500K is overachieving big time and again I'm sure Showtime is making it look decent.
I don't think this is far fetched. does it matter though? i feel like they made so much in the canelo and pacquiao fights, that they're "playing with house money" now? am i wrong?
exactly...but this is some kind of win for Floyd haters..lol
Wow! Another win in the Rousey column as her last PPV is said to have gotten around 1 million buys and that was with a very poor undercard and an extremely late night main event that lasted 34 seconds.

Do the Math
If Mayweather vs Berto does +500k it has to be considered a success (no one expected much from the non-existent Berto fanbase). Do the Math 500K ppv buys ($65 and $75) equals $35-million dollars before you add anything else up (gate, closed circuit, theaters, etc). Additionally Showtime doesn't have to split their share with HBO which is a plus.
Good lord you're an idiot.
Pac and Algieri weren't getting paid 32 million. Not even close, their combined purses weren't even close to 32 million.
They got tax breaks in Macau. Fighting in Vegas, you don't.
There's a reason why they got paid what they got and fought where they fought.
Like I said, Fraud had an 87.5% DROP in PPV sales from his last fight only 4 months ago.
LOL at how the FloeHoe Stans are trying to tell themselves this was an OK number.
there's no state income tax in nevada.
the draw to bring pacquiao to macau was a fee posted by the casinos / state over there. it's a communist gambling mecca :lol1:. i'm led to believe that it is 2-3 X the size of vegas, and does that much in gambling revenue each eyar. state sponsored debauchery.
rich chinese are f#cking ultra rich. they're paying cash, site unseen, on boston real estate right now. no joke. cash. unseen. these guys have F#cking money, and they gamble it away in macau.
they send their kids to BU and BC and buy them supercars to drive around boston. can you imagine buying your 18 year old kid a f#cking 10 cylinder :lol1:?
The circumstances??? He created the circumstances. Mayweather Promotions was the promoter. Floyd picked the opponent. Floyd decided to announce the fight extremely late (for whatever reason), and Floyd decide not to do a press tour.
550K is a massive disappointment for the even considering Floyd's guarantee.
What does anything you just said have to do with my post? It doesn't matter who created the circumstances.
I love how Floyd has conditioned people to think 550k ppv buys is terrible. He had a terrible opponent and the fight was announced Hella late. I don't know about you all but I didn't really see a lot of promotion for his fight, either. 550k would be impressive given the circumstances.

He has many sources. How could he not? I understand why some fans don't like him, but he certainly has access to information and inside sources throughout boxing.
From what I've seen he barely has sources with Mayweather, Haymon or Showtime for that matter.
I think Bob and HBO will work out some kind of deal where Manny fights on HBO with a Steve Forbes level opponent like Fishnets DelaCoka. not having to pay for that kind of Manny fight would make fans happy after how he performed May 2nd.
I feel like they almost have to put it on regular HBO. Especially if it's Crawford. Depends on how much they pay Manny though.
What's funny is Fat Dan's alleged "PPV source"
Fat Dan, everyone knows you have no sources.

Lots of people are going to be backpeddling when Manny's next fight flops in epic fashion. Kinda like how they were for the Algieri fight but worse.

So Mayweather fans are now your official source? Lol..
with regards to floyd's ppv yes. they are the expert when it comes to that.
check all the threads about Floyd ppv and you will see for yourself.
you still laughing?:boxing:
