Keith Thurman - the so called "boogey man" of the 147lb division.
I remember a time he was shouting out all the big names when his best wins were the likes of Jan Zaveck. He said he wanted to kill Mayweather and then ran around the ring for 12 rounds against a guy who had a close fight with Frankie Gavin.
Now Floyd Mayweather trolls him by saying he should fight Erroll Spence and he takes it as being "disrespectful".
It's funny how when he was a young fighter coming up, he wanted the bigger names to throw him a bone but now he's made a name for himself, he won't throw Spence a bone? Why not fight him.
Ohhh yeeeah....because Spence isn't a big enough name and the risk/reward doesn't add up for Thurman just like he got told by the big names in the past. I actually like Thurman but doesn't that make him a complete hypocrite?
We've seen this happen time and time again. Paul Williams. Golovkin. Matthysse etc.
So will this "boogeyman" phenomenon finally stop?
People were saying Brook is ducking Thurman which made no sense in the first place considering their schedules and now Thurman is saying Brook should fight Mayweather :lol1:
It's amazing how fans fall for all this bullsh1t hype talk.
Chaves and Guerrero were legit opponents. That's an unpopular opinion but I think Bundu was also pretty legit, he beat easily the same guy Brook just fought, only difference was Bundu did it on point because he hasn't got Brook's power... I don't say he's better than Brook but was a legit opponent for Thurman. I don't defend the Collazo fight though...
eh.... did you see the fight?
Thurman and Brook clearly have a deep mutual respect for one another. It comes across in their interviews. Neither is ducking the other, they both know the game and know that in a few months time, they'll fight and make a tonne of money doing so. Thurman has never said that Brook is ducking him or vice versa. In fact, he's been saying Brook should get the Floyd fight
Meanwhile, Thurman clearly has zero respect for Amir "Queen" Khan and that's why he rips him to shreds in every interview he gives for not having faced a true welterweight.
Softfists is clearly a diehard Khanturd so it makes sense for him to talk sh1t about two guys that Khan is pissing his pants over getting in the ring with.
Yeah I know, they've both openly said that they are the biggest threats to eachother. The fight will definitely happen next year if they both keep winning.
I don't like how Keith keeps ripping Amir but it's not unwarranted, he's been behaving like mongrel since Brook won his title. I don't think he's scared of Brook but he's clearly ducked the fight and took the easy route to Floyd. I think he will go back to fighting anyone after he gets that fight out of the way.
Heavyfists my man you've been going from thread to thread telling us Thurman and Brook are ducking eachother (and everyone else) for as long as I can remember, got any other plans for the near future? :lol1:

Because Hearn said they have zero interest in Thurman.
Look, I know you like Brook, but Thurman DID call out Brook, and Brook did remain silent on it. And Hearn did say they are not interested in Thurman.
So Thurman moved on. Thurman called out Brook at least a couple times saying he even wanted to go to England to take the belt. Brook isn't interested.
I mean is that surprising? Brook and Mike Jones mutually avoided each other. I don't think Brook wants to fight Thurman either. He's tactically picking his fights.
Where did he say that?
Khantards have literally resorted to blatantly lying to attack Brook.
It's beyond sad.

If he was so interested in fighting Brook in the UK then why did he schedule a fight with Collazo in July?
Why is he now saying Brook deserves the Mayweather fight? :lol1:
Funny stuff. And Brook has never gone silent on Thurman, he may not shout his mouth off in the same way but he has always shown interest in the fight.

Are people ignoring what Thurman actually said? He said he WOULD take the fight...
Of course he wants a bigger proven name, but he hasn't said he won't fight Spence.
I swear this place is full of complete retards.
This would be a title fight. Finally a live body wants to fight him and he's playing businessman. What happened to "You betta not duck me thun...you betta not duck me thun".
If he passes up a chance to defeat Spence on Floyd's undercard for a vacant championship that's clearly a duck. If he feels disrespected use then as motivation to punish Spence and put an end to the hype train.
I agree he should be more welcoming to all comers but its not even worth exhausting energy over now. Theres no chance in hell they fight anytime soon. Spence still needs developing
Key word being prospect. Keith is the most deserving fighter at 147lbs of one of the top 10 guys.
It's funny how Brook, Porter, Khan, and Bradley all had fights lined up before Keith got a chance to make a fight. Keith also mentioned he got stuck into fighting Collazo. It was either Collazo or nobody. Porter didn't want the fight, wanted to pick on little Broner instead.
Keith needs an actual title shot and to own a real title before he starts taking on prospects and contenders. Right now he needs to be fighting a champion, like Kell Brook.

The hunter becomes the hunted. These up and comers are going to start looking at Thurman as a big chance to make their mark by fighting the big scary 147 pound puncher. The tables have turned as you say. Spence-Thurman will probably be a big fight in a year or two, though.
Be reasonable, Thurman deserves a big shot, Spence could destroy his shot, If this was Thurman 2 years ago maybe he and Spence could mix it up, but right now Thurman has already put in work, Spence still has a bit to go, I have only seen Spence fight once on an undercard. Thurman has headlined several cards, its his shot to shine, and putting him in with Spence is a very high risk fight, Spence is still young and can develop a name to build a super fight between the two, but right now its Thurman who needs to shine, he deserves a fight with May, Pac or Brook.
You clearly don't understand what I'm saying. Unsurprising. Never mind
I'm not saying he should throw him a bone but it's highly hypocritical for Thurman to call anyone "disrespectful" for calling him out. He was doing the same thing at Spence's stage.
It happens with all these boogeymen type fighters. I still remember people saying Paul Williams had 3 divisions frozen in fear and suddenly Martinez smacks him around and he starts becoming a diva.

Why would Thurman throw Spence a bone when Thurman hasn;t even gotten his bone yet? come on Dirk make some sense, Thurman still hasn't been given a big break against the top dogs, why should he fight Spence right now? He wants and should be getting his shot at either May, Pac, or Brook.

Stupid and hypocritical thing of Thurman to say it was "highly disrespectful" but this fight isnt even realistic by any stretch for a year or two so I dont blame him for brushing it aside.
Oh and this thread has absolutely nothing to do with the fact Brook went silent on Thurman showing interest back on fighting him in UK.

He's been crying about trying to get a top opponent at 147 on the ring with him. Now he gets an offer against one of the most hyped prospects at 147 on the biggest stage in boxing and turns his nose up.
