Like as if we aren't real fans because we want some excitement in our fights?
Are we not fans if we dont want to watch a pitty pat match for 12 rounds?
What makes an exciting fighter? Do they have to be aggressive like James Kirkland? Have a workrate like Paul Williams? Get KOs like Randall Bailey? Flurry like Amir Khan?
I don't think anyone has a problem with liking aggressive fighters with high workrates, it's when you want to change the sport because you're mad the fighter you decided is the best lost that people have a problem with.
This sums it up nicely.

Such is the state of art appreciation in all forms.
There are those who have a greater appreciation for what they consider a higher evolution of the art form ... whether that's architecture or paintings or scultures.
They might look at pop art as being for the masses, something that takes a less discerning eye to appreciate.
There is beauty in cave drawings and in graffiti that can be pleasing to the eye, as there is in a crude slugger who may not practice the fistic arts with the same grace as a higher artist who aspires to create a masterpiece.
I loved to watch Victor Galindez and Frank "the Animal" Fletcher as much as anyone, but their approach to the sweet science, IMO, was not on the same higher plane as Alexis Arguello or Pernell Whitaker.
While both sides throw insults. The bias of the "rock'em sock'em" crowd causes guys like Rigo to be sidelined and go to Japan to get fights even though he is the Lineal champ.
Rigo sent himself over there he was given a chance in hbo and he failed to attract viewers. I guess people should be forced to enjoy his fights.

Mostly black fans who get insecure at action packed non blacks with power.
1.Fan of Loma, Kovalev, GGG
2.Hates on black fighters everyday
Yeah it's the "black fans" that are the problem right? :wt::wt:
I would like to say that given my previous comment there is a bit of a hypocrite with me. I love most styles but for the love of god I cant watch a carlos molina fight.
I don't understand why people hate on a certain style.
I can watch Rogondeaux or Lara box someones head off and love it. If someone tells me it's boring..i couldn't care less.
The next week and can watch Kirkland Vs Canelo and love it, and if someone tells me it's 'brawling not boxing' i couldn't care less about their opinion on that either.
Everyone has their preference, but if you can't enjoy all styles of boxing, then that sucks for you as you're missing out.
This is the NSB section of the forum, and there is more 'fan boys' than boxing fans. If their favourite fighter fights in one style..they are going to tell you that other styles are garbage. That seems to be how it works.
As i said though, i think they're missing out on the sport as a whole if they think like that.
i call bullsht
The only reason is, because this place is infested with Floyd obssesives, although god knows why, he hates his fans, doesn't give a shlt about them at all.
And Floyd is the definition of boring fighter, and so they feel they need to defend his style, which is done by reminding people being exciting is over-rated.
Nah, its not over-rated. No one will watch any replays of Floyd fights in the years to come. But Pac has been involved in classic after classic. Pac lives on. Floyd is forgotten. Purely by virtue of how boring Floyd is, and how exciting Pac is.

If you believe that then you're spending too much damn time on this forum! :nonono:
I see the disrespect coming from both sides, people who like Brawlers bash Skilled Boxers far more than the other way around but it is all childish BS. I have my preference but I try to at least respect all styles. That is the beauty of boxing, trying to figure how to defeat your opponent. It is not suppose to be easy, nor is the Fighters suppose to fight in a way that benefits his opponent.
If you have the speed and footwork advantage, you would be a complete idiot not to use those talents to your advantage.
Indeed, play to win to the best of your abilities.
That is different in each and every case, if a guy goes against their nature and doesn't play to win they are cheating the game.
If a guy is strong and needs to be rough and tumble go for it
If a guy can crack figure out how to land that firepower
If a guy is smart use that brain to out maneuver the other guy
If a guy is quick land before the other guy can
If a guy is offensive use your offense to win fights
If a guy is defensive take away the other guys game
If a guy is versatile figure out which of the paths is best
And there are tons of variations on each because no fighters are exactly alike. If someone can't appreciate a guy putting his style on the line in the ring against the other guys best then they really aren't that into the sport. They are into seeing dudes get wrecked on, which is fine but don't act like some aficionado if you don't really like the whole game.

Maybe its me but usually I find the arguements come when a great exciting fight happens and people start talking like the fighters are now world beaters who can snatch up the top technicians in the division when that is rarely the case. There are skill levels to the game so when people watch a ex. provodnicov fight and then tell me he would trash someone like floyd in the ring thats when the arguements start happening. I love most of the styles in the ring but some fans like to pretend face first fighting is the end all be all (of course the opposite is true as well and people pretend outboxers are the best etc)
I find it comical when people who obviously have never set foot IN A BOXING GYM let alone a boxing ring have the nerve to call boxers who move and use their IQ to achieve victory "runners" or "cowards". That's much worse than enjoying a good scrap.
1. The biggest American fighter in the sport is not an exciting fighter.
2. Of all the new fans of the sport, a very large number of them will naturally support the biggest star they're aware of.
3. They will think his style is the best style.
4. They will not have watched enough boxing to have any perspective on the range of styles in the sport.
That's the main reason. A huge number of people spend more time typing angry comments about boxing than actually watching it. Especially fights from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. There are guys who spend 8 hours a day on this forum who think Cornelius Boza Edwards is a type of vegetable.
Great Post....I can always dig me some CBE that dude was all-action.
