I think Estrada's win over Viloria was great and all but I personally prefer his revenge against Sanchez Jr. Sanchez Jr was a giant at 112 standing at 5'9 and with a 72 inch reach... :lol1: . He managed to knock Estrada down in the second round but aside from that he was getting his ass handed to him. Estrada was cutting the distance properly and unloading some flashy combinations that stunned the bigger man several times throughout the contest and eventually lead to a great KO.
Personally my favorite win on his resume.
Abner Mares win over Ponce de Leon was his most significant and impressive victory in my eyes. Especially because I thought he had such a slim shot at 126. He proved me wrong in the fight and knocked down the bigger man in the fight a few times before acquiring the stoppage. The way Mares handled a strong FW champion and disposed of him in his first fight at the division was amazing. Sadly he got KTFO in his next fight :lol1: :nonono:
Hopkins beating a very confident Trinidad was awesome.
Also Marquez destroying Paquiao with one of the best KOs in boxing history is just unforgettable.
Rigo over Donaire
This. I honestly was giggling like a school girl at points because it was such a schooling. Anybody with any credibility had Donaire in their top 5 and yet he was made to look like a complete amateur. Thing of beauty.
Damn, just realized I don't have a favorite active fighter anymore. It used to be Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., then Oscar de la Hoya, then Fernando Vargas, then Erik Morales/Jose Luis Castillo... now? I have no favorite fighter!
I guess Jose Luis Castillo is still active. His best win is... Mayweather. :boxing:
Can't think of anything that brought me more joy than watching Broner get fuk ed up and humiliated. what a night. twice knocked down, hump vengeance, forced into acting as if he couldn't keep on fighting "but the headbutt ref. A just can't continue", broken jaw and left the ring crying without his soul.
Matthysse...on paper, probably his win over Peterson.
It's a bit shit really thinking about it because I don't rate Peterson. I was going to say Alexander but he came off a loss against Bradley, and I don't rate Alexander either. These are C+/B- fighters.
In the ring, his stoppage win over Humberto Soto is most impressive to me. Very durable opponent who has since outpointed Molina Jr.
LMAO I was thinking about that one. His first fight was atrocious but the way he came in on the rematch was great. He didn't only beat Agbeko down in a more dominant fashion but he did it cleanly :lol1:. His Anselmo Moreno win was also good but the fact that Moreno was dragged up in weight and was fighting in a division that isn't were he excelled at was what took away from it, IMO.
The Agbeko fight to me was more satisfying because he beat him more dominate and shut up all the doubters who thought he needed to cheat the first fight.
However the Moreno fight to me proved Abner was on a different level. Remember everyone kept saying Abner would never fight Moreno, that Chemito would out box him the way he'd outboxed Vic. Abner put a whopping on him.
If I say it was a Mayweather fight, some people are going to wonder how that is possible, knowing how I feel about Mayweather.
So here is the situation, I was a huge fan of Mayweather for over 10 years going back to the Olympics. So, this would be in retrospect since at the time, it still outweighs any of my actual active fighters wins today. My pick, the Mayweather/Corrales fight. Same as Big Dunn's pick.
I picked the round it would end and I said that Corrales would not be able to hit the backside of a barn with a bag of rice. I nailed that one.
But before the fight, I argued for a month with a racist guy with the username RFPROBOX. His name was Rick Farris. I argued with him about Leonard, Mayweather, and Jones. He hated black fighters to the point of twisted bias and I called him on his racial bias and it finally got to the point where I was willing to give up my AOL account in a bet and told him to put up or shut the fuk up, I was tired of his obvious racism toward black fighters. He said Leonard was not even a top 100 welterweight and over time I realized that came from his bias.
When he said Jones was ducking Ruiz. I said, not only was Jones going to fight Ruiz, he was going to beat him. Rick was arrogant and denied that would happen. I said, okay, we will bet our AOL accounts! And he never showed up on the boxing message board again. He stayed true to our agreement. He was once a boxer with something like a 7-10 or 6-3-2 record, depending on the source, something like that.
So, yeah, Mayweather/Corrales because of the fight and Mayweather being one of my favorite fighters and also for being the starting point for me being able to rid the boxing board of a racist which culminated in the Jones/Ruiz fight.
I heard RFPROBOX wrote articles for a boxing web site or two. But I have no interest in reading articles from someone who is racist so I did not offer up any page hits at the time.
Rigo's win over Santa Cruz. The way Rigo has forced Leo to denounce his Mexican heritage, and change his gender from male to female in front of the entire boxing world is as great a victory that you can achieve in or out of the ring.
So much love for Rigo over Donaire, definitely Rigo's best win thus far.
Naoya Inoue's savage beat down of Omar Narvaez. Going into the fight I had my doubts since Narvaez is a wily veteran of the sport. The way he was obliterated in dos rounds made me reconsider life itself... Naoya Inoue's masterful performance and incredible feat at 8 fights is breathtaking.
Khan's best win was Alexander who is definitely a very accomplished name in the game and the fact he won all 12 rounds or worst case 11 was only makes it that much better.
Maidana will be by all time favorite. Khan proved a lot that night. (wipes a tear).
