This is what Corley told me: @CHOPCorley: @Salim_Shady96 matthyess do honestly look at my fights with the other 2 I beat them both ! Just was cheated ! What do you guys think?
Watching him fight maybe?
Not saying he's ridiculously slow but he's definitely not fast.
"Does prime Maidana have the feet to be fleet footed?"
:lol1:
Maidana moves around the ring very well. He was out boxing Soto Karass, Broner, and Mayweather. And he can also hunt you down quickly, like he did against Broner and Mayweather in the early rounds.
A slow fighter is like Brandon Rios... or Ruslan.
I think it's Provo or Maidana.
Matthysse has better footwork so he's able to corner his opponents, the other two guys are slower so don't get into position as often but when they land clean they really hurt their opponents.
Forced to choose I'd say Provodnikov.
Wrong.
Maidana is very light on his feet. He is mobile. What fight did you see that makes you believe Maidana has slow feet?
Better chin possibly, not sure yet since the biggest puncher he has faced is Alvarado. But Matthysse has grit too, dropped twice v Molina, fought 6 rounds with one eye v Garcia.
This will be a great fight.
It would be a great fight no doubt but I've seen Matt wilt under pressure against Garcia and even when Alexander at times took his shot, you could see Lucas shoulders droop.
Provo is too much of a thug to give a crap about that. Matt wins if he can stick to boxing but if he turns it into a slug fest, Provo can take him out.
fair enough, one thing i dont see anyone mentioning is provodnikov's speed, atleast in terms of handspeed, he's the fastest out of this lot, and it will be dangerous for matthysse on the inside if he explode with those flurry's
Good point about the speed. But for me Lucas has the better all round skills, including an improved defence (needed) and more counters to the body.
Back on topic, I would go with Matthysse because his punches are pretty concussive due to his footwork/positioning. Provo sometimes appears to sacrifice power for speed, which can result in more of a flash knock down. Maidana has power, but it generally has an accumulative effect as the fight goes on.
That said, any of them are capable of a single punch KO with their respective power. It's just how you use it IMO.
I think Provo has a very good chance of beating him, he has a far superior chin and grit.

i agree with the bolded, but i can't make a prediction on matthysse-provodnikov, i've never seen matthysse fight on the backfoot, although he does give more ground than provo who i've never seen take a backwards step in any of his fights
if he gives himself some space i can see him messing provo up with the straight punches, in close i think provodnikov has the advantage
If you re-watch Matthysse-Judah you can see Lucas moving around and boxing.
raw, blunt force power, maidana. matthysse has better technique behind his punches which makes them much more effective. ruslan has power but he isn't as devastating as the other two. if matthyse or maidana land 2-3 flush shots consecutively you're in big trouble.
How would you know?? Maidana is a devastating puncher who puts your lights out. When he knocked Peterson out you could see the look on his face it was like Peterson had the life sucked out of him, Mike Dallas Jr (yeah I know, he's no good and it's a really overhyped win) was iced cold. When has Maidana ever knocked out someone like that? He knocked Danny Garcia's mouthpiece for crying out loud, it was a custom made mouthpiece too according to Angel, that was solidly fitted.
i've been watching boxing for a very long time. you're going to say "you still don't know," and you're correct. i haven't been hit by either. based on my close to two decades watching boxing, i think it's clear who hits harder.
you're still not addressing the phenomenon of the harder puncher being unable to land his best shots in a boxing match.
i'lll just assume you mean matthysse, because maidana has never fought peterson.
when peterson was rocked the worst by matthysse, they had traded hooks. surely you understand that what goes on when guys trade hooks is more a product of timing than simply how hard one is hitting.
as for one punch knockoutson maidana's resume, he has them. victor cayo came to mind immediately. that was a one punch knockout to the body.
I think Maidana's power is actually hugely overrated. If you can't knock Khan out when he's out on his feet, you don't have huge power.
maidana was running on fumes by the time he caught khan. explain how he dropped karass who is bigger and has an infinitely better chin than khan?
being able to punch hard and being able to stop somebody can be two different things.
if you held mitts for matthysse and maidana, you wouldn't think matthysse hits harder.

1. Matthysse - 95%
2. Maidana - 87%
3. Provodnikov - 83%
Just to put this whole thing into perspective:
Lucas one-touches people with the same gloves that Maidana's fans refer to as "pillows." He uses them regularly, not as a downgrade from a puncher's glove like Maidana.
That alone tells you Lucas hits the hardest. Never mind that you have every fighter telling you he does.
Maidana takes the second spot based on the fact that you can't let him hit you multiple times.
Provodnikov is a distant third because his opponents can endure multiple shots from him and still retaliate. He's more of a mauler, anyway.
No way.
Maidana's power is way overrated, he's never knocked anyone out that was really good or had a solid chin. Matthysse beat the ever living crap out of Corley. Maidana couldn't knock Khan out when he was out on his feet, he couldn't stop Broner who was a blown up lightweight, his power is very overrated.

I dunno man, I think Lucas has faster hands AND feet and is more technically gifted

I think Provodnikov may be the toughest out of the 3, in terms of punch resistance. Seen him buzzed a couple of times but never hurt.
Same with Matthysse really, I've never seen him in trouble, he's been down a few times recently but I never felt he was in any trouble at any stage.
Maidana seems to get hurt in almost every fight
fair enough, one thing i dont see anyone mentioning is provodnikov's speed, atleast in terms of handspeed, he's the fastest out of this lot, and it will be dangerous for matthysse on the inside if he explode with those flurry's

I just think if Provo lands the shots Matthysse did against Garcia and Molina, they would have gone down or been badly hurt whereas they ate Matthysse's punches for rounds. Just my view.

I voted Provodnikov but Matthysse is pretty close to him...Maidana isn't near those two.
matthysse often takes alot of power off his shots to land them, and to be capable of throwing as much as he does(if he did like maidana and provo he'd be gassed also), when he loads up he's alot more devastating than the other two because of his punching technique(something maidana sorely lacks) and sharpness
if we're talking strength, maybe maidana
matthysse is one of those brutal punches that when they hit you in sparring, it's with punches so sharp it feels like it went right through the headgear and you feel you might have sustained a cut under the headgear
