Kid was on some Marquez/Barrera shit. Very paced and aware of his environment and the situation at hand. He boxed beautifully landed great body shots, too bad that legit shot that took Marchiano down didnt get counted. But I look forward to seeing this kid in the future. Hope he fights in Texas soon.
Frankly I couldnt really get into this fight. Maybe its his style or something. I don't know how long he will last but I don't think he becomes an all time great unless something changes.
Dude, you gotta stop discriminating like that. I learned that lesson a long time ago. You should learn it now if you want to become a student of the sport.
Azumah Nelson came from somewhere in Africa and he is a legend.
Alexis Arguello was from Nicaragua.
And Monzon (best MW of all time) was from Argentina.
Boxing is global. Especially in the lighter weights.
Definately not discriminating... I guess I phrased it wrong. Let me try again.
An awesome numerical record from Argentina means shit.
Carlos Rios, 44-2 when he fought Mayweather. Rios is fucking terrible.
Some dude retired at 44-0 from Argentina, but never took a step up.
Monzon was absolutely great... but I am just saying, that usually when a dude is having his first fight out of Argentina... and he already has 2 losses and 1 draw, that is an awful sign.
Hell, I wouldn't be expecting much from a fighter who is undefeated out of Argentina.
You know what I mean? Definately not saying that good fighters can't come out of there, but their competition down there seems to be lacking to say the least.
That's like a figher who is fighting outside of Oregon for the first time... definately not to be feared too much.
Sure; he was impressive, but could he be able to take those shots against a better fighter? I reserve my opinions till I see him fight tougher competition. Mares seems to have to many *****s in his armor to beat top level fighters; but then again, he may have fought that way tonight because he knew his opponent was overmatched.
LMAO at what is starred out...

The guy from Argentina sucked... like most Argentinan fighters. (It's true guys, sorry, but most Argentines come out of their country with like a 30-0 record, and get stopped by Victoriano Sosa, or Henry Bruseles or somebody who isn't really quality). I knew this was supposed to be a wipeout, and it... was, but it wasn't.
I can't believe this prospect olympian let some fucker who doesn't understand how to throw a punch bloody his nose.
I was actually quite disappointed. He was in there against a punching bag, and he got his nose bloodied. Not only was it bloodied, it was gushing blood.
i've been watching this guy for a while, one of my fav prospects, hes just 21 and doing good so far... That Marchiano guy had a fuking great chin, i was like FUK go down already!!....
Mares has improved ALOT, i remember seeing him with Mayweather Sr and he was not as good as he is now with Nacho, u can see the style he gives his fighters, finitino, marquez's, etc... nice fuking counter-punching and combos.
Man, Nacho is one of the greatest trainers. He doesn't seem to get his props that much but he turns his fighters into perfect machines. Really looking forward to what Mares does in the future. I just hope that his management choices are better than with 'Finito' and Marquez. I think due to bad choices, he could've had some of the greatest fighters in history, but there were some bad decisions made along the way. Anyway, good luck to Mares.
The guy he fought was not human. So forget about blaming him for letting the fight go the distance.
Nacho Beristain is a genius. His fighter's throw every punch with perfection, and they throw ridiculous combinations.
I think he could have stepped on the gas pedal a little bit more. I thought he had Marchiano hurt a couple times. Especially after the knockdown, which I thought it was a legit knockdown.
Though to be honest, Marchiano impressed me more. No way did he win, but god his chin was solid.
He had never been past 8 in his career though. He doesnt have the lungs or the experience yet. He'll get there though.
I thought Marchiano had a very good chin, but he seemed to get buzzed a lot. Its just he fought back everytime he got buzzed. Never really hurt though, maybe to body with the KD, and maybe to head in round 12. A very good chin. but he's no Andrade

WTF? He beat up on a bum and let the scrub bloody him up. He's another case of an incredibly talented fighter who will be "old" by the time he's in his early 30's.
that IS something i commented to my girlfriend. i told her that he shouldnt be trading so emphatically with Marchiano or with any other fighter at this stage of his career because he might shorten it. some flurries here and there a la mosley or even more but not trade 7-8 punches in one spot more than 3 times a round.

He was okay.
no mames guey, what does the kid have to do to get props from you? land a quintuple uppercut followed by a 18 punch combination and a Sharoken?

Looked real good early, looks like he has potential, good movement, speed, etc. I didn't like him hitting the other guy when he was on all 4s in the back of the head and hitting the guy after he hit him low and the guy was complaining to the ref, in the head.
This kid is the real deal, i was very impressed too.
I seen him throw some punchs like Marquez's do -throw punchs but still at a distance from your opponet, on defence and offence.
That was my first time seeing and i had heard a lot about him.
Very impressive. It seemed like he punched really hard but that guy stood in there. He was rocked bad in the 12th though i thought. tough guy. LaMotta in the crowd probably loved him lol
Some of those combinations were breathtaking though, and thats my favorite type of fighter...
