WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is sparring hard for his upcoming defense, scheduled for the 18th of June against Ryan Rhodes in Guadalajara, Mexico. Sheffield's evergreen Ryan Rhodes gets his fourth bite at the world title cherry when travelling to Mexico's VFG Arena to challenge WBC light-middleweight titlist Saul Alvarez on July 18th. The 'Spice Boy' earned the right by relieving Jamie Moore of his EBU title in October 2009. Rhodes then watched Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao plus Alvarez and Matthew Hatton contest the WBC strap. Ryan, though, knew his time would come; he is delighted to have netted the chance to scalp 'Canelo' on a Golden Boy show.
It has been a very pleasant stay for world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, as he spends time in the mountains of California, where he physically and mentally prepares to defend his title against British southpaw Ryan Rhodes, on June 18 on Mexican soil. From his high altitude camp, Chepo and Edison Reynoso report the king of the middleweight division is boxing with the Swedish boxer Craig Mcewan three to four rounds a day.
Ricky Hatton believes that Ryan Rhodes has a great chance of becoming his first world champion. Rhodes travels to Mexico on June 18 to challenge for Canelo's WBC light-middleweight title, with Hatton convinced that 'The Spice Boy' can upset the odds.

LOS ANGELES- There is no rest for a true world champion, and on Saturday, June 18, WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez, fresh off of his title-capturing win March 5 over Matthew Hatton, will return home to the Arena Vicente Fernandez Gomez (VFG) in Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico to defend his crown for the first time against top contender Ryan Rhodes of England.
Trainer Dave Coldwell is confident that Ryan Rhodes is capable of capturing the WBC junior middleweight title when he challenges unbeaten champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on June 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Coldwell is not only confident of victory, he is also confident that his boxer has the necessary tools to close the show with a big knockout.
David Coldwell, the trainer of junior middleweight Ryan Rhodes, knows it won't be easy to beat the boxer who is arguably the biggest star in Mexico, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, in his hometown of Guadalajara. The fight will take place on June 18 for Canelo's WBC junior middleweight title. Coldwell knows his fighter has two ways to go about things - to give Alvarez a beating for twelve rounds or to stop him inside the distance. They have a plan in place and won't get reckless by wasting rounds in pursuit of a knockout victory.
The venue for the next defense of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (36-0, 26KOs) is nearly finalized. The mandatory fight with British boxer Ryan Rhodes (45-4, 31KOs) will likely take place at Arena VFG on June 18 in Guadalaja, Mexico, said manager Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso.
