WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is sparring hard for his upcoming defense, scheduled for the 18th of June against Ryan Rhodes in Guadalajara, Mexico. Alvarez is currently sparring with middleweight contender Craig McEwan and hard punching WBA "regular" middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. Alvarez is training in the mountains of Big Bear, California.
Manager José "Chepe" Reynoso said: "Everything is going very well. He works hard and it's an excellent atmosphere. He's sparring every third day for seven rounds with two sparring partners: Gennady Golovkin, the WBA champion, and the Scottish boy. He runs at eight o'clock for 40 minutes around Big Bear Lake. We are in a comfortable cottage with three bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, and it has all of the amenities and the gym is only a few steps away. We really feel very comfortable. Alvarez is throwing very hard and he's going to arrive at 100% for his fight with Rhodes."
