1976 end of the year ratings......end of the year!! You're starting to sound like another conspiracy theorist. Do you have proof King bought Holmes ranking? Neumann dropped out losing to Bobick. Wepner also dropped losing to Bobick. Shavers still in for beating Williams. I may be getting my years mixed...

W hike i agree the scorecards were wide( and rightly so) I don't agree the fight was a blowout. If it was and he thought so maybe Vits would have carried on. He didn't and the rest is history. And with a 7" and 40lb weight advantage he should hit harder. But Byrd made him miss so much it was...Bronson66 likes this.

Ok, so we agree Vits dodged both a Byrd rematch and Rahman than, right? I have no problem with Lennox retiring for whatever reason you want to say. But let's play it fair here....

Threw way more punches, missed way more punches. Only landed 8 more punches. Defense is a criteria.....and the German fans went crazy for Byrd even though Vits was the adopted hometown favorite....Bronson66 likes this.

The tournament didn't start until February of '77 which means Holmes was already ranked and had nothing to do with it. I appreciate you trying to play devils advocate on behalf of Queenie, but the facts remain my friend. Not to mention Holmes was not part of the tournament. I think even King knew he...

Holmes last fight in 1976 was against Roy Williams. For him to be included in the year end ratings it was this fight that put him in the top 10. The Ring tournament scandal started in 1977, Holmes was not part of it....Willow The Wisp likes this.

And in an interview during the Johnson camp he said what i said. What does it really matter? The man won and had every right to retire. Only butt hurt klit fans feel otherwise. Why aren't you talking about Vits retiring to avoid Rahman?...Bronson66 likes this.

Nobody denies Vits was winning you moron. Even if he won every round, EVERY round was close. Vits landed 8 more punches the whole fight. That is not dominance....

This is another fabrication that isn't true. Klitschko landed more punches, he also threw more punches, but not by 50%. Lennox also landed at a higher percentage and landed the more effective punches....Bronson66 likes this.

Liston and Tunney are the standouts of this group. Tszyu is borderline in my opinion. Only because 140 isn't that deep even though having been around nearly a century....

Actually he did. He said during the Johnson camp he wanted one more fight before retiring, either Vits or Jones. He got Vits, won and sailed off into the sunset....Bronson66 likes this.

Byrd did back Vits up on plenty of occasions in their fight, and Vit only landed 8 more punches in the entire fight. I do agree about the psychological effect. Not because he was afraid of getting hurt again, but because he knew he was going to look bad no matter what. I think that really did a number...

Exactly as I figured. We all knew you wouldn't do it because you can't. It was a right hand that said the damage that led to Vits being stopped. You can make up anything you want, the video doesn't lie....

Holmes was ranked in 1976, 3 years after turning pro you moron. That's mid 70's. We're you cuckold by Holmes?...IronDanHamza likes this.

I don't have to prove it because we know he fought a month after Byrd and Wlad. That is a fact. Just like it's a fact Vits claimed injury to postpone the Rahman mandatory. When Rahman signed to fight Barrett he suddenly and miraculously healed enough to try and make a fight with Maskaev a month and...Bronson66 likes this.
