I honestly wish I could say I made up that post about kidney degeneration because unfortunately I learned what I know from a friend who had a kidney transplant 3 years ago. It was rejected last year and has had been waiting for another. In his case it prematurely degenerated over 20 years due to insulin use...he is 38. I never knew this but it's typical of diabetics after about 20 years.

What I posted about estimated GFR values...120 being young and healthy...90 being normal for a guy your age who is healthy (60 being the start of kidney disease)...is typical. Now even at 60 you wouldn't notice anything different...but it is on the threshold of bad things to come.



Everything you do that contributes to that happening (of which there are many) are things that have a way of biting back at you say in about 15-20 years for a guy your age (if you say you have been lifting weights for over 3 decades I'm guessing you in your mid to late 40s).

I know you think the Mayo Clinic is run by a bunch of uneducated guys...(maybe truck drivers)...but to the Medical community they are regarded as the Gospel...so that's good enough for me. They say...as I previously posted..that amongst other things

But when you are 55-60 years old...you may very well have the GFR of a guy who is 75-80.

So how I see it...everything that does harm in any way even if it's way down the road in life...is something I keep away from. It's as simple as that.

Now some guys try it for a year or two when they are young and give it up. That in all likelihood won't do any damage...although I just don't see the point.

So you may not agree...that is your prerogative and I have no problem with that. Others can decide for themselves.

You need a blood test...I've had them. I don't think I've come across a bigger idiot on this site. PH levels of the urine are directly effected by your diet and can vary in the same day. ie: High protein diet will be very acidic. It will not reveal the state of your kidney. It can also indicate bladder infection.

I really didn't want to comment on this...but it's obvious you have little education...no one is fooled.

blood pH isn't a test doctors routinely order. ... It measures many things, including urine pH, glucose, protein, and blood.
