Is this contest still going on? If so, Im in! Heres what's currently going on at my side.
Recently joined an Kenpo club, Tried one of their daily workout and i seriously underestimated the training that you go through in these sports
Right now i will be going there once every weekend (More frequently once the real thing starts in april) and do some jogging/stretching at home and see how much i will drop. Currently im at a blank 90 kilos (Yes i know im ****ing huge) and i will mainly eat stuff like meat, pasta, rice, veggies fruits and such.
Can't really put any picture up cause i don't have a webcam nor a camera but i'll try to hook something up later. (Im shy..)
EDIT :
I was thinking of making a blog of my progress, Anyone know some kind of site where i can write one? Would be fun to read later on once im more fit.Last edited by Coeco; 07-24-2008, 05:50 PM.

alright, I'm officially joining this thread, (After all, I'm the baddest mother****er on this ****box, it only makes sense...)
just kidding with the above, but anyway...
Right now I'm at 280 lbs. The weakest part of my body is my core, so this is what I will look to strengthen along with gaining stamina from the running. But aside from weave drills, jump rope, speedbag, and roadwork...thats about all I do, I don't even punch the bag now...I want to wait until I drop about 25-30 lbs and have a more developed core, so I can then test out my new core and see what kind of hooks it pumps out.
IMO if I can get down to 230 and get a six pack, and very good lateral weaving movement going on in my drills, the speed of my punches will be so much faster...i can only imagine how hard i'd hit if I had a ripped set of abs and obliques with my left and right hooks...
U know it only makes sense...in my case, strong legs, strong upper body, but weak core...Punch travels through the legs to the core, and that's where I believe my punches are weakening...once my core is strengthened enough to fully support the power from my legs in a coordinated fashion, ooooh, that's gonna be some hard shots

If you simply want a strong core, you don't necessarily need a six pack. You can do a ****load of core-strengthening exercises and have a fairly large body fat percentage at 230 pounds, but still be able to pack a solid punch because you've focused a lot of attention on your abdominal muscles.

if you guys need tips on weight lifting and dieting there is no better place than
www.stronglifts.com
also this is good
http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/magaz...urningdiet.htm
i wouldnt go by this diet whole heartedly there are some grey areas, but for the newbies it explains alot of stuff, you may have to re-read it a few times, but it will teach you alot about dieting in general
as far as weight lifting goes, get on the stronglifts 5x5, you wont regret it.
some boxers dont lift weights, do what you want, this is just my recommendation.

ffs been like what, 2 months now? and i only managed to loose like 1.2-1.9 kilos (That's counting right after my club. Rises up like 1kg when i eat something), No sweets, No weights, been jogging quite frequently and looking after on what i eat..
Why the hell am i not loosing any weight?!
We have only been doing endurance and skill training at the club so gaining muscle gain is unlikely and the only difference i feel is more stamina.. Wtf is wrong with me?

muscle burns way more energy idle than fat, therefore just by merely HAVING more muscle on your body, you lose more fat, making it harder for you to gain weight. id say get into lifting weights, cardio helps a ton, but really if you do it right you dont even have to do cardio to lose the weight. weight training and proper diet can get you as ripped as you want, but cardio definitely helps. also weight lifting, if done properly, can have similar effects of cardio.
that said, weight lifting is definitely not necessary, but it sure does help.
once again, www.stronglifts.com
educate yourselves!

educate yourselves!Body Fat. Fat is emergency storage. Your body holds on to fat when you don’t eat enough calories or don’t eat enough fat.
