    Weight Training

I know this quesiton comes up alot but how should a boxer lift weights???

im 15 5'9" 168 pounds. i wanna fight at middle weight(160 limit) and i wanan get stronger. Lifting weights doesnt make you slower, but i jsut wanna know "HOW" to lift. Whats the correct way?

i hear that duing 60-80% of your max will do. And you should do them explosively.

anyone have anything diffeent to say??

i wanna get stronger, more muscle endurancem, but i dont want to gain wegiht, or get big.

if you dont want to get to much bigger dont worry about weights work with push-ups diffrent sets and diffrent kind. also work on the tech of your punches if you lear to put your body into your punch you will use power you didnt know you had

if you want to punch harder you better off with bigger legs, i know it sounds funny but the better your legs can plant into the ground and the more technique you use, your more likley to get a k.o punch.
if you just want to be stronger, do elevated pushups, like put your feet on a wall so they are higher than your hands on the floor!
and chin ups with your legs just dangling!

your 15 yrs old right, just stick with floorwork for now cos you still growing, I remember reading somewhere that Cuss D'amato used to strap weights on Tyson when he used to go jogging so he wouldn't grow any taller because his height was perfect for the style he was learning...intresting lol.

anybody got any advise for my little bro? Hes a batnamweight and want to gain weight.

Somewhere around 130 lbs solid. Hes damn skinny and wants to pack on some muscle.

A year back we hit the weights for about a year, but he didnt gain **** only brute strength.

Is there a different routine between weight gain and strengh?

i would say add some fat and turn it to muscle, maybe try a substance like kreatean, not sure how good it works or any side effects but lots of people i know use it for weight gain.

with weights, they're great for amateurs and even into the beginning of your professional career (i heard this from some boxing trainer on tv) but once you get to a certain point whether your strength training or not you begin to get to big, benching and curls will give you strength, don't let anybody tell you it won't but doesn't mean your gunna hit harder then someone with natrual hitting ability

and for the age i've never heard of correct weight training stunting growth, especially if your 15, most of your peers are probably lifting for other sports, ex: football, wrestling, etc

a good way to work legs is by doing leg powered laps in a swimming pool. you can also use swimming to work your shoulders and arm. it all depends on what style of swimming your using
