I also agree those guys who you named probably have the best chance of beating Floyd. I was never arguing that constant, insane amounts of pressure is the best way to beat Floyd...I was just looking at a major limitation in Canelo (his stamina) taking that option away from him. Mares fight against Moreno is the blueprint on how to beat a boxer like Floyd. Although you'd need a bit of a chin along with that stamina because Mayweather CAN crack when he has to.

Actually, I think Ortiz did better against Mayweather than Canelo though. I still wish that fight had continued.
Mares example is a good one. As for Ortiz, I think he was getting picked apart by the right hand and his eye was closing because of it.

He was frustrated and head butted him. Canelo's skill IMO actually played against him, he was convinced (so was his corner) that he could box with Mayweather. While he did to a certain extent, he just can't win that way.

Who ever is going to beat Mayweather has to be good on the inside.

in Mayweather vs, Cotto jabbed his way in, and once in range he hit Mayweather with some nice bodyshots when he tried to roll his punches, you can see when Floyd got hit to the body, he backed off and circled Cotto to recover. Cotto got some body punches here and there, at times getting hit 3:1, or countered clean, but by the late rounds Mayweather was standing with Cotto for the majority of the rounds. The jab was the go to punch for Cotto, even when Mayweather was teeing of on Cotto, he would eat a nice hard Jab that would snap his head back, frusterating Mayweather, mayweather takes alot of pride in his defense that it threw him off his gameplan, wanting to get back at Cotto, standing with him once again.

Pedro Diaz had the right gameplan for Cotto, jab your way in, keep the distance short, and push him back. nice veriety of punches.

Anyways, i always thought Alvarez was a "little" overrated, not saying that he is't any good, but he has not reached a level where he needs to be at. I hate to say "overrated" for any young talent, and at that, a 23yr old getting a shot at Mayweather? thats asking for alot. But some can compete at a young age, while others need time to grow.
