What Canelo has to do to beat Mayweather

I am not recommending Canelo attempt to outbox Mayweather. I am recommending him 1. Jab a lot 2. Punch with his pot shots and 3. Be unpredictable/slightly awkward. He can do ALL of those things while pressuring Mayweather. I am not disagreeing with you that he should lay back. Again, Canelo is most comfortable moving forward. These are just supplements and tweaks to his current style. It's not complicated at all. And if the formula to beat Mayweather was simple, somebody would have already done it. You say these 3 tweaks are out of Canelo's ability. I strongly disagree if he actually trains to do them. I think they're more realistic than Canelo being able to apply the pressure he needs for 12 rounds to simply outwork Mayweather.
I would love for you to be right, I just don't see it. Again, I just think that any sort of counter game to the counter punching will be a UD for Floyd.

Those video examples you showed, actually work against you. Mosley hurt him, then was taken to school for 10 rounds straight. Zab is another animal to Canelo and used his speed and being a lefty to cause Floyd problems but in the end was beaten as well.

I think we agree more than you give credit here, I just think at the end of the day, Canelo is going to have to take chances, come forward with INTELLIGENT pressure and beat Floyd with size and strength.

Canelo needs to initiate instant pressure and stay on top of floyd asmuch as he can. he has to turn it into a street brawl, mayweather holds and canelo needsto use his strength to throw mayweather around even throwing him to the canvas. he can not let mayweather breathe or get comfortable. may will go into his shell, rolling his shoulder when canelo throws his right. what canelo needs to do with that is just swing his backfoot to the front when he shoots the right, mayweather will be stuck in his shell, canelo pushes mays front shoulder with his right hand and then gets behind mayweather and just rips hooks at will as mayweather will be completely out of position, then shove him off balance and keep pushing him back with right hands and shoulder bumps on the inside. Canelo needs to mug him on the inside; low blows, shots to the hips, bump his head nto floys face. Canelo needs to get floyd out of his comfot zone.

Basically canelo needs to use his size to wrestle and takes Floyds endurance to it's limits, never get off of him and never let him rest. Every fighter gets sloppy when tired or worn, mayweather will be no exception. If Canelo does this he wilbe labled as a dirty fighter. That's just fine as long as the W is his......... Rockin'

Well as simple as mine and Rockin's game plans was, it was the right one. I know fans want to over complicate things in boxing, but sometimes it's as easy as just applying pressure and your size.

Canelo I thought was tentative in the first 4-5 rounds, they were close rounds but, Mayweather was getting the better of the exchanges from the outside.

When Canelo finally realized he can't do that, and came forward, he started connecting. He should have done that from round 1, come forward and non stop pressure and punches.

I don't think he can do that, and that's why he didn't and the reason I picked Mayweather by decision.

Oh man that's great. I heard it was a crazy atmosphere. Too bad Canelo couldn't pull it off.

The Cano fight was awesome though, favorite fight of the night.

if canelo won the mexicans would still be partying, haha. they were singing cielito lindo in the hallways, totally sauced, by about five oclock.

                LOL you bugging.

                1. He didn't do anything I mentioned so you can't say it was the wrong game plan.

                2. He only tried to apply pressure for a few rounds and began to look winded soon after. He never would have been able to sustain your game plan the full fight. And even it didn't work all that well because he still wasn't winning rounds.

At the end of the day, no one knows what would have worked because at the end of the day, the code still hasn't been cracked.

                  1. Actually he did do what you suggested. At least in the general boxing sense. He was lured into thinking he could box and counter punch with Mayweather and like I have said over and over, you cannot play Mayweathers game.

                  2. I agree and that's why I said he would lose a UD. The ONLY style that has a chance to beat Mayweather is if you do what Margarito, or Leo Santa Cruz do. Come forward for 12 rounds, non stop punching, use your size and power to take Mayweather out of his comfort zone. If you don't, it will be the same BS all over again.

Watch the first Castillo fight, that's the formula. Oscar did well but there is no Oscar in todays boxing world.

I'm not trying to disrespect you man, and I get why you like to break these fights down, but I think you guys confuse SWEET SCIENCE, and think it's ROCKET SCIENCE, it's not.

Every pro trainer and fighter I talked to in the past few months, said the same thing. It was an easy strategy to implore.

You are right though, Canelo doesn't have the stamina to come forward for 12 rounds.

Canelo needs to shadow box, hit the bag and spar at double pace compared to the past for the start
