Famed bobybuilding trainer Vince Gironda (google him) once said "bodybuilding is 80% nutrition." He told how in his gym guys would work out incredibly hard with no results, but once they started eating and supplementing right results "magically" appeared. Vince is true legend among bodybuilders. Far ahead of his time. Read up on him. There are a few sites dedicated to him.

I was speaking on just boxing and a boxing workout. When I was a kid in the gym, I never lifted weights, ever. All I did was push ups, sit ups, dips, lunges things like that when it came to workouts other than the typical boxing stuff.
I was merely speaking on how some people think that in order to be in great shape, you need a six pack, not true. Like I said, Juan Diaz is a classic example, Ronnie Shields has said he's the hardest working kid he's ever had in his gym, yet he has baby fat on him. That's genetics.....
I get what you are saying though, we are just on two different pages.
It's just when you said theres no way Arreola could ever have a great physique like a Klitschko... I had to disagree with that.

Cuauhtémoc1502 is more right on this even though Reed made good points, both of you didn't mention the 3 body types which ties in with everything already mentioned. Take into consideration that its possible to have a combination of body types.
The ECTOMORPH
* Definitive "Hard Gainer"
* Delicate Built Body
* Flat Chest
* Fragile
* Lean
* Lightly Muscled
* Small Shouldered
* Takes Longer to Gain Muscle
* Thin
The MESOMORPH
* Athletic
* Hard Body
* Hourglass Shaped (Female)
* Rectangular Shaped (Male)
* Mature Muscle Mass
* Muscular Body
* Excellent Posture
* Gains Muscle Easily
* Gains Fat More Easily Than Ectomorphs
* Thick Skin
Endomorph Characteristics:
Smooth, round body
Medium/ large joints/ bones
Small shoulders
Short limbs
High levels of body fat (may be overweight)
Body fat tends to settle in lower regions of body, mainly lower abdomen, butt, hips, and thighs (rather than being distributed evenly throughout body)
Pear-shaped physique
Can gain muscle easily, but tends to be underdeveloped
Difficult to keep lost body fat off
Lose weight slowly
Have to work hard to lose weight
Slow metabolic rate
Attacks of tiredness/ fatigue
Fall asleep easily

ECTOMORPH, MESOMOPRH blah blah blah.
you put an Ectomorph on a deserted island where he's gotta catch everything he eats, i guarantee you the mother****er will be lean as **** in a few months.
my point being, genetic disposition not withstanding-- ****'s not impossible. so you have to work 10-15% harder than a MESOMORPH. big ***** deal.

tend to agree TBH. Though people should remember just because you are not losing weight the benefits of excercise persist. I wouldn't put on weight if i wasn't exercising, but i also wouldn't be as fit, as strong or as healthy.
Diet is very important, especially for the mid-section. Abs are made in the kitchen.
Genetics always play a part too. Some people have lower body fat % genetically and will find it easier to brin out a ripped physique. That doesn't make you and stronger or fitter than the guy who doesn't look as ripped as you.

Most of my extra weight (fat) is lower body.. ass/legs but i have always had a good 6 pack and now have very big shoulders after training just a few months. My diet has been garbage from 14 to 22 and has only got slightly better recently.. so i doubt i have a slow metabolism

Good read man and this is exactly what I'm talking about. People think that just because you go on a deserted island and don't eat you will get ripped...lol
They don't understand genetics and why there are certain body types that people are blessed with.
