I have a 40 year old uncle who eats cheeseburgers and doesnt workout any more... Yet the dude has a 6 pack.
I mean Im 27, if I eat cheeseburgers and dont exercise Ill blow up like a helium balloon.I have to eat clean and workout to maintain/lose weight.
Anyways, for my body it was always shifting from the sweets, carbs, and deep fried crap to chicken and veggies that made the biggest difference
I myself am dieting right now, and at a cost of strength and energy, got under 10% and to be honest I dont really like the way I feel or perform daily.

Man, I've seen guys weighting 280 pounds, and eventually with the right dieting and training program, turned into muscle monsters.. and you guys think it's down to genetics? Come on guys, use your logic.
Anyone (and I mean ANYONE) can get a great looking body - if you make the sacrifices.
Diet is absolutely everything for performance, and how your body looks in the the end. Those that think they can eat crap and still train to their full potential are blinkered.
I can tell you Haye has one of the strictest diets you'd imagine, he didn't get that body for no reason. It's all to do with discipline!

I am telling you that with enough diet and the right training and enough time.. Arreola absolutely could have a great physique... He just cant get it as easily as others... But he absolutely could get it if he took all the necessary steps to achieve it.
Way to waive the almighty "you guys are all wrong and im right" schtick.
You are 100 right in saying Arreola needs to eat better and will be in much better shape, we agree on that. I'm responding to the people that say he can have a great physique and I'm saying it can't happen. He can get thiner, he can be more fit but guys like the Klitchkos, Terrel Owens in football, guys like that are blessed genetically and that's something most of us can't achieve.
230lbs is what he looks best at and that's why I brought it up. Look, I was in great shape as an amateur, ate very well and was a gym rat 6 days a week. Yet I never was a muscular guy, ever....
There were guys that had much better physiques than me yet weren't in as good of shape.

Genetics simply means that things come easier for you.
People with great genetics aka Klitschkos may be able to even eat pizza and still maintain their physique... where as Arreolas metabolism may run half as fast as Wlad's, and his body simply does not burn the same calories, and therefore he needs to be 300% more careful what he puts in his body.
I'm telling you right now... if Arreola dedicated his entire life to body building... Had a strict weightlifting regimen, and a strict high protein, low carb diet.. and he stuck with it... he could absolutely ahve a great physique.
It may take him 3, 4, 5 years.... but if he did the right things, and ate the right foods... and did it long enough he could absolutely change his look... he will just have to work twice as hard as it as someone else who may have better genetics, and they dont necessarily have to eat as clean to get the same results because their body may burn more calories throughout the day because of a different metabolic rate... or their body may gain muscle more easily because of their geneitcs... where as Arreola may have to push himself harder than that other person in the gym to get the same results.
And I have worked out with plenty of body builders, and you know what they say?
With the right direction, and enough dedication... you can absolutely achieve anything.
And being a gym rat is too vague... there are too many different things that a "gym workout" can involve.
When you were in the gym, were you working out to become BIGGER... more MUSCULAR?... Were you doing heavy duty weight lifting, and consuming your body weight in protein each day?
Or were you doing boxing training? High cardio workouts?
Everything depends on what you do, how you do it, and how much of it you do.
Arreola could absolutely have a great physique... it would just require a completely different regimen, a completely different diet, and a completely different goal.. and may take several years to achieve it... but he absolutely could.Last edited by THE REED; 02-24-2011, 10:09 AM.

People also underestimate the learned work capacity. If you have been training hard since the young age, but later on got out of shape it would be half as hard for you to get into the shape you want. Your body, in one way or another simply remember the way it used to be and its hormonal profile back then. So, yes, if, for example you have been training hard in your teenage-young adulthood years then stripping off fat would be a much easier task for you when you are 30-40, people will blame it on genetics, but usually its all you.

I was speaking on just boxing and a boxing workout. When I was a kid in the gym, I never lifted weights, ever. All I did was push ups, sit ups, dips, lunges things like that when it came to workouts other than the typical boxing stuff.
I was merely speaking on how some people think that in order to be in great shape, you need a six pack, not true. Like I said, Juan Diaz is a classic example, Ronnie Shields has said he's the hardest working kid he's ever had in his gym, yet he has baby fat on him. That's genetics.....
I get what you are saying though, we are just on two different pages.
