      BS.

Are you seriously saying that sugar is an essential macronutrient? Carbs aren't either, for that matter.

True but I feel like **** when I'm low on carbs for more than a couple of days.

Fats have about 9 kcal/g, carbs (sugar) only about 4 kcal/g so it depends on how much you eat of it, and what your goal is. I'd go for the burger, even though it may contain more calories.

Hottamale is right. As nice as it tastes, if you never had another bit of sugar you'd be fine. In fact you'd be healthier.

You need glucose for your respiration to work, that's the way we live. You burn that and O2 to make energy. So please get your facts straight. Plus carbonhydrates are what you burn to make energy (ATP), and that's what makes your brain work.

Sugar is worse definately. Sugar in the quan****** that the average western person consumes is ridiculous, food companies put sugar in everything and as a result we end up eating 100x more sugar than is required daily. In fact refined sugar isnt even required in a diet, you can get all of your glucose from carbs.

Candy is even worse because it is basically 100% pure sugar without any nutritional value or fibre so all that sugar basically ****es your blood glucose levels which causes all sorts of health problems.

Fats arent great either (unless they are good fats) but I'd argue that a cheeseburger is much less damaging to the health compared to a big bag of sweets. Which is a shame because I ****ing love sweets

I'm not saying that one diet is better then the other (like you said, it comes down to goals and the individual), I was just saying that sugar nor any other carbs are an essential macronutrient.

You still don't need to take in carbohydrates, part of the dietary protein you ingest will always oxidize to glucose for example.

Id go with the sugar... sugar you can use as energy and burn it off... obviously any sugar not used will turn into fat.

However a cheeseburger is just straight fat, not too mention the carbs that come along witht he bread.
