Running Times?

Just keep a steady pace when you go for a jog because if your serious about fitness you should be doing sprint sessions and interval sessions aswell. My running regime is simple:
Monday: 5 mile jog steady pace on the road not a treadmill.
Tuesday: sprints in the park. 100m sprints all under 15 seconds with 45 seconds rest inbetween each sprint. i do that 20 times.
Wednesday: Bleep test. short test in the park to track my endurance.
Thursday: rest
Friday: 5 mile jog steady pace on road.
saturday: rest
sunday: sprints. the same as above
This for me is good because im training aerobic and anerobic seperately which gives me a better idea of how im improving and its a consyant change instead of doing the same thing everyday. and the sprints and bleep test are quick to do but still tiring so it doesnt seem like your exercising for hours everyday.

anything more than 2 miles begins to tax your body beyond benefit if you want to box....
Running is great for long term recooperation, leaning down to make weight, and it's even better if you change the speed up continuously like most boxers. It also strengthens the legs.
the best conditioned boxers ALWAYS put in a decent amount of running. Running is generally a good way to keep the body in good shape as well.

Hi Them Apples, I love your posts but believe me, you dont do around 4 miles in 20 mins!!!!!
Three miles in twenty minutes is a good club level runner. One five minute mile is seriously competent! Honestly you surely cant do four of those straight.
Try it on track, 4 laps of a 400 metre track is one mile, so your looking at sixteen laps...............20 mins..................naaaaa

On the subject, unless you're a pro fighter or overweight, you should stick to interval training and shorter quick paced runs.

I don't believe for a second thats olympic times.
I just book it
5 minute miles is what they do on average in the military
just so i don't seem like a fool making up **** though i better time myself for accuracy.
On a treadmill it's about 8-9 mph average for me. somebody do the math for me.
EDIT: @ versatile, 3:32 seconds is the olympic mile record.
to run 1 mile in 5 minutes is about 10 mph. Which is basically running at a high pace (pretty hard)
I did the math, on a fast run it says i do a mile in 6.5 minutes (@9mph) I guess i just screwed it up because i do it on a treadmill.Last edited by them_apples; 11-27-2009, 12:17 AM.
