well you didnt say that it did have any advantages either not that you really needed to in order to defend your point.

I walk/ light jog at like 4 mph with weights and its 10 on each leg ive been doing it for 6 years now with no joint problems and its a very efficient fat burning exercise. I'm sure you might try to demean me for it if you had more of an argument other then its ruining my joints which i believe is just as much assumed as me coming to the conclusion that you don't feel that biking has any advantages.

i mean at least i can say that you haven't said anything good about biking in this thread and thats where my assumption comes from. your assumption is that some one else that could have been in a completely different situation then me got sore joints from running with weights on...i mean you have no proof that thats what caused the sore joints its just your assumption or the guy who told you this's assumption. he might just not drink enough milk

if you do appreciate the many advantages of biking then i guess your not that ****** maybe my comment was just a tactic to see if you even like bikes.

I didn't talk about biking's benefits because I was trying to say that running is better overall exercise, the other dude's already pointing out what he believes to be benefits of biking at which one point I agreed that it targets your quads more.

Even light jogging or walking is not recommended with even lower weight, and no I don't assume on that subject. What you are referring to is me saying in another thread a friend of mine's dad ruined his knees from it, if you read further I said that ir prompted me to do research on em before I used em. Google it right now, ankle weights are bad see all the hits.

Ankle weights should be used during stationary exercises, leg raises, etc. Vest only if anything.

        My personal favorite:

"because it caused something wrong to happen in your knee. It becomes swollen."

now if that dosent scream expert i don't know what does

but really most of the web sites only mention that theres a risk of injuring tendons and ligaments with a possibility of injurying your joints as well. its not set in stone, but whos to say maybe me when im 30 and i cant walk or when im 80 and running marathons. maybe i should move the ankle weights to my arms and go with 20 on each arm with the 20 lb vest, or check out body togs, or maybe i should just be confident in the conditioning of 6 years worth of building up from 1-10 lbs on my legs not to mention building up what i was carrying on my back as well over the 6 years.

I too have heard that using ankle weights with dynamic exercises is a bad idea but those studies could have involved people that used the weights carelessly and did not gradually increase the weights.

Well the quote you got there is from a user opinion so it wouldn't scream expert. But good of you to point it out when all the articles talk about possible ligament damage, etc. But do whatever you feel like, I can't change everyone's minds about everything. IF you truly have been doing that cong**** to you, idk if you have been because even 10lbs is a lot for ankle weights but kudos.

Yeah not so much and expert but i laughed out loud when i read it so i figured id share.

10 lbs is only relative at 210 its not that much.

I agree running with ankle weights is bad for you even jogging is pretty bad but....if your careful, keep a low intensity, build up very gradually, and keep form as your # 1 concern you might be able to get away with some weighted power walking with out debilitating joint problems when your older.

theres something about building up thats very important even the old skool body builders knew that you body can get stronger from the increase of even just an ounce.

None the less im definately trying some jogging with 20lb's on each arm and 20lb vest instead of my norm the ankle weights really rub my heel raw....ill just have to see how i like it.

Definitely outside, i enjoy the sunlight. I hate running on a treadmill i feel like a hamster. Also if I blow ass on a treadmill it lingers for a good minute while i'm breathing in heavily.
