You've said "tell the difference between and right straight and a right cross" at least 5-6 times. It seems as if you think knowing that(which is a pretty easy question and I guarantee 90% of trainers COULD answer that) determines whether or not you know enough about boxing. Obviously you have improved tremendously from the first video to the second video, but if you refuse to go to a gym and find a trainer, then the only opponent you will ever face is that bag and your skills will plateau instead of continuing to improve. No pro athlete in any sport would be a pro without coaching. That includes boxing. The way you are making it sound, you know everything there is to know about boxing and there is nothing anyone could tell you that you didn't already know. Well, guess what, even the best trainers don't know everything. But they know a lot more than you give them credit for.

The bag might be 50 or 60 pounds im not sure i got it from a friend but im 6'4" in comparison

im sure people could tell me things that i should be doing though i would understand the purpose to their advice and mold it in with the thousand other things ive heard on the same thing and make my own decision on if and how i should use the advice and if their advice can be improved upon.

as well i could ask the diffrence between an over hand right and a right cross then.Last edited by Spartacus Sully; 05-18-2010, 11:41 PM.

half way there, its not just a punch but a situation. if a coach told me this i would think him using logic and not knowledge and ask him as well why there is no left cross. to which if he told me either there is if your south paw or there isnt because you only lead with your left shoulder and should only swing in with your right on that shoulder id tell him hes wrong and go some where else.

Also, by what your saying, instead of following your trainer's advice, you would question everything they say and be a smart ass. Oh yea, I forgot, you know everything there is to know about boxing and every technique. You seem to have potential because of how much improvement you showed from one video to the other, and if you stop being so stubborn, you could reach your potential. But with how stubborn you are being, maybe a gym wouldn't be the best thing because all it would do is frustrate your and your trainer. Good luck with that because if Dempsey could do it close to a century ago, you could do it now. I may sound a little rude but I mean no disrespect, it's just frustrating because like I said, you look like you could turn out to be pretty decent as you've already shown tremendous improvement. It's just your too stubborn to want to go to a gym and take advice form other people.
I dont do things if i dont know why im doing them and if my trainer has me doing them and cant answer my questions about why im doing things then he has no right having me do those things let alone train me.
I take plenty of advice from other people but everything i take i scrutinize and learn as much about as possible. if some one tells me something i try it in sparring i try it on the bag try it shadow boxing i imagine every situation that it can be done in what can follow it what can come before it, i look it up online and see what other people have to say about it i dedicate hours and even days to just that little aspect. from all that i learn about that one little aspect inside and out but on top of that ive gained a massive wealth of knowledge on everything that that little aspect influences. this practice repeated over and over and over and over and over and over and over again over the past year has brought me to the point where yes i would say i know most there is to know about boxing but if perhaps something did come up where i didn't know about it i would NOT blindly listen to a coach just because hes my coach and he tells me to do it i would continue with my practice of scrutinizing every little detail unfortunately though 90% of coaches are robots that would only tell me "shut up, this is a group activity now go back to what i told you to do just like everybody else."
