    Sounds like a recipe for muscle loss to me! But I guess it depends on what you eat for the rest of day, and if it works for you great. I for one would be a skeleton if I only ate fruit for breakfast. What time do you eat the next meal? if you only eat fruit and wait for lunch you would be extremely hungry. I lose weight just by simple calorie reduction or upping cardio.

    and as for weight training making you slow thats a different debate!

      Muscle loss my ass. Scaremongering bull**** from protein shake salesmen. You believe that ****? They even fund the so called 'research' and blow out of proportion the results of tests using some carefully chosen words.

      You will have enough protein from night before. Muscles need carbs more, people don't know that. Even for bodybuilding. Forget the next meal, graze on fruit throughout day. To speed up metabolism you need to have something every few hours at least. Don;t let your body think food is scarce and your metablosim will never slow down, and your muscles will never be wasted! This only happens when you are starved of nutrients in general, not proteins. Proteins take time to be absorbed anyway, not minutes. Just amke sure you have enough in day. How on earth would you ever be starved of anything if you keep refuelling throughout day?

      Also, I suggest you check that program out first to understand why you need to graze on fruit like a hunter gatherer!

        Look I dont believe the protein shake bull**** and hype about how much protein you need either!

        I just dont agree that eating just fruit for breakfast without any protein or fat whatsoever is the ideal diet one size fits all for all boxers. High carb breakfasts are great but I like to follow what the sport scientists and nutritionists recommend from research and study, and that is to consume a recommended amount of protein/carbs/fat per day depending on your weight and base rate metabolism.         For me to fulfil those requirements it makes sense to eat 4 or 5 meals that contain a bit of each. Including protein and fat in my breakfast makes it easier to reach my daily nutritional goals, and I am also doing weight training a couple of times a week.

        I could eat just fruit in the morning and still eat enough protein and fat for the rest of the day, but after 10 hours without food it makes sense to start my day with a breakfast containing protein fat as well as carbs. I am not trying to lose any weight.

        Also, nutritional needs will depend alot on the person, body type, age, weight, base rate metabolism, what their goals are, whether they want to lose or gain weight, lose fat, gain muscle, whatever. Also what you are doing that day, training, competing, lifting weights, labouring, sitting on your arse at a computer etc.

            that aint nuffin it matters how much time i got but if im not in a hurry ill have a bowl of honey bunches of oats, a bagel, then a cup of fruit

              i tried this oatmeal with honey in the morning and it's probably the best breakfast i've ever had..i look forward to the honey too, it's weird...

              seems to stick on the stomach well past 11:30am, just a small bowl of it..I used a little bit of milk in mine and drizzled some honey over it, my trainer told me one time that consuming honey is beneficial to a fighter at certain times but he never elaborated on it...
