a stance u may want is tucking your right hand under your chinand your left just below it. a stance like this does require a lot of head movement and reflexes, but the way it forces you to hold your hand can really add some snap to a properly thrown jab

No offense, but that is the worst stance there is. Never, never, NEVER drop your right hand from the side of your head. Protecting yourself from the left hook is one of the most important things in boxing.

From what you have put on display in this video I have to come to the conclusion that you are not ready for any amount of serious sparring. There are so many things which you are doing wrong it is hardly worth listing them. You need to go back to doing drills and shadow boxing to perfect, as well as you are able, the fundamentals.

I have a su****ion there is a lack of supervision in your gym. Why isn't somebody screaming at you every time you screw-up?

Luke is also not a weak boxer. Not only is he physically very strong, he is accurate, is in excellent condition, and normally throws around 80-100 punches a round. He hits hard, has fast hands, moves his head well, has great combinations, and is an all around athletic guy.

If you want to criticize me, fine, but don't talk **** about Luke.
          luke is gay hahaha

but also, it didnt look to me as if the guy in that vid was an athletic guy with great combinations and man im 14 and i spar harder than thta, if thats the intensity you put in the gym, you will get your ass handed to you come fight night, i learned that and have heard it from other boxers also

            You guys crack me up!

Its really amusing the flack I catch from people. It's fine with me, continue to flame away to your hearts content, but just keep in mind you have no idea what you are talking about.

In 3 rounds of sparring I got hit with 1 punch. 1 PUNCH! 0 Jabs, 0 Body Shots, 0 Left hooks, 1 deflected Right hand that Ironically hit me because my hands were up and I didn't see it (Watch at 3:26).

I was more relaxed in the ring than most of you are posting on this forum.

Most of you really miss the finer points of boxing. You are under the impression that to be a good you have to be fast as lighting and look just like Juan Manuel Marquez.

Many of you forget that the most important thing in boxing is your brain. Keeping your hands up is a waste of energy, if you already know when your opponent is going to punch, and what punch they are going to throw.

People are under the impression that they will beat me because they see some critical flaw... No, that is why you will lose. You don't realize that I want you to think I have that flaw. I want you to try and take advantage of that flaw... you are just playing into my hand.

Above all else, boxing is a game of strategy. You can have the best technique in the world, the fastest hands in the world, the most power in the world, its not enough.

You have to be smart, you have to be relaxed, you will never beat someone that can out think you.

You guys can keep working on perfecting your technique, and increasing your speed, and improving your power, endurance, strength and scariness. I will spend my time learning to control my opponents, to trick you, to make you think instead of punch, to make you think I am going to do one thing when I am really going to do something else.

Its the difference between knowing how to move a chess piece and where to move a chess piece. You can move your chess piece as fast and precise as you want, if its a crappy move, none of it matters.

My game is tricking you into making LOTS of crappy moves.

Because I already went through that phase, then I worked WITH my trainers to develop my current style.

This is what most of you fail to realize. I don't fight the way I do because I never learned the "RIGHT" way. I learned the right way, then WITH my trainers, I started to experiment with "DIFFERENT" ways.

That has nothing to do with Luke. I didn't let him. I didn't let him get off combinations. If I saw him thinking about coming in for a combination, I threw out a jab to force him to reset.

He gets inside, I counter him with a right hand to force him to reset.

                Watch starting at 7:35

It is a perfect example of how I have asserted my will on Luke. All I had to do was stand and do nothing and he sat there trying to feint me into moving and thinking of a way to get in. I let him think for a while and when I saw that he was no longer paying attention to defense, and was instead trying to think of a way to get inside, I threw a strait right hand and them moved to a new angle.

After that point, knowing I was in complete control, I was able to drop both of my hands and dance around without danger, I was able to become more aggressive, and work my offense without fear of being countered.

I didn't do that with technique or speed, or power, I did that with intelligence. I'll post up a video of Luke sparring with someone else some time in the future. He is a very promising fighter.

well maybe when you get knocked out because you didnt keep your hands up you might re-think how "intelligent" it is to keep your hands at your waist.

and plus, have you even had a fight yet?
