Sean Sherk Responds to Floyd Mayweather

Let's get this straight...both Mayweather and Sherk are crazy, crazy athletes. That said, Sherk is not even on Mayweathers level in terms of athleticism and accomplishments. Yeah, he's a very decorated wrestler and he's a muscled up wrecking ball, but Floyd may go down as one of the greatest fighters ever after his career is over.

A fantasy matchup is ******. Both would be out of their realms in each other's sport and both would lose if they were to take turns fighting each other in the ring and octagon.

That said, Mayweather would have a WAY better chance lasting longer in the octagon then Sherk would in a boxing ring. If Floyd really put 6 months to a year in learning strictly takedown defense and basic octagon generalship he would be a force to be reckoned with.

Seriously though...we're comparing a mustang (Sherk) with a lambo or a ferrari (Floyd). And that's real talk. I'm a huge fan of both sports but Sherk won't be remembered for much...a couple title defenses here and there while laying and praying to a victory. Floyd will be remembered for beating everyone he was put up against (4 or 5 HOF fighters).

The "lightening fast punch" got me laughing. Those punches are jabs aint they?? What the heck is jab gonna do to a Sean Sherk? His jaw aint made of glass, the guy took 2 knees the the face and it never fazed him..he still got the takedown. Bobbing and Weaving and dancing around in the octagon does not work at all and if it does it can only work for so long then they get taken down and beat up. When will ya guys get that? boxing and only boxing will never get u a W in MMA. Like I said, u cant be 1 dimensial in a MMA.

so, bobbing and weaving and dancing around doesnt work in the octagon, yet you cant be one dimensional in MMA....oh yes that makes quite alot of sense........so if dancing and moving dont work, then i guess you have to trade and wrestle all the time, ohh but wait you cant be one dimensional in MMA..........

hahaha do really think we will believe that you have ever boxed? haha dude your obviously a dumbass wrestler or something, and another thing, there are no really decent boxers in MMA, otherwise they would be fighting pro or high level amateur (olympics etc...) thats the reason why they went to MMA, they were sub standard boxers with a style reminiscent of a crude streetfight, and they found they could grapple ok, that pretty much sums up all those so called "boxers" in MMA

No, Bobbing and Weaving wont work, and if it did it would only last so long. You can be 1 dimensional but it wont get u far kapeesh. You can stand toe to toe, wrestle/grapple, judo, bjj anything, there is alot u can train for in mma and use. And yes I do make alot of sense btw.

Yes there are decent boxers in the sport and they didnt leave cause they couldnt make it, they had decent Am's and Pro Records, some went to the olympics. You wouldnt know because your not a fan of the sport, u dont know any fighters besides Chuck Liddell. Maybe they joined the sport because its already surpassing Boxing, I know it aint the money because mma pays poorly but give em time and they will get big pay days.

how about mma fighters who are both pro boxers and pro mma fighters, my trainer is undefeated in pro boxing and has about 20 pro mma fights too

Chuck lidell vs silva was a boxing match. And one on a low level.
there will never be a free form of fighting. Mma comes close. In a street fight
tyson would bite your arm till it bleeds get back up and punch you to death.

Not having masterd many parts of a whole really sucks, You just see average fragments of whole fighting sports. there is no mastery.
they could never compete in a thaiboxing match competitive, look at kid yamamato vs zambo, look at sudo's k-1 career it ******.

Not to mention in a boxing ring. As for mayweathers case there is alot of room for argument given the talent he has shown.

When you have 10000 competitors mastering one fragment, and one does it flawlessly, he has alot of potential to master other aspects in the same manner. Doing average in all aspects and in some better doesnt rate you higher than one having masterd a whole fragment.

Having said that, well mayweather given time, he has great ****ing potential.
And with boxing skills alone he could win a dozen of matches.

haha yeah, well maybe its the 2nd one. Im just a troll buddy, some people like what i say some hate it. Its a f'n boxing forum, if everyone agreed on something then this would be one boring site. Plus I started this thread long ago and it was over and done with until someone started it again and if ya knew me, I had to say something.

These fighters are not boxers, did u expect jabs and stepping aside? Chuck is a accomplished striker, same with Wandy but I wouldnt say they go in the octagon to box. Chuck just has KO power and he put that together with his wreslting background and great sprawls and thats how he became the man he is today. Wanderlei is the same way but he is more violent.
