and yet again you feel faster only because you are going faster than you did with heavier gloves, but you're not going faster than your top speed that you can go, do you know what i mean?

if your best time in a 40 is 4.5, and you run with a huge boulder on your back, then when you take it off, it's not like your 40 is going to be any better than 4.5

it just doesn't work that way...
Actually.. higher oz gloves will produce quicker hands.. it's the entire principal behind resistance training. Take a look at it this way - why do people shadow box with light weights in their hands? 1) To build endurance in the shoulders and arms and 2) For hand speed. If you shadow box for 5 minutes with 3 lbs weights in each hand and then put them down and shadow box another 5 minutes you will not only feel a difference but see one as well. The boulder example is a good example to use as well. Runners who feel that they would like to work on running up hills better (cross country, etc) around here usually fill a backpack up with items such as phone books and then sprint up the hills. Take the backpack off after a while of training (I'm speaking of around a week or so) and they have a considerable enough difference between their times to make the exercise worth doing. I can see some benefits from using lighter gloves such as knowing the feel of throwing punches at a speed in which you compete with, etc. but higher oz gloves most definitely improve hand speed (over time, if used correctly).

My point was that a combination of both is what's going to help, not just weighted training. But yeah I know what yall mean and I think that all of us are getting confused in what we are trying to blurt out. Doing too much of one training isn't going to beat doing a balanced training schedule in my opinion.

P.S. I'm glad this isn't like the other forums where people get all offensive when trying to state their opinion over another persons.

You haven't gone to the lounge if you seriously think that.

Nope, only stayed here. I hate the people at my local forum... houston-imports.com
Lots of good info, threads, and media, but tons of haters and lowballers. It gets so annoying at times.

Wrong, it wont make you quicker, it will build strengh not speed, power comes from speed.

Because they do a specific job and are cheaper to make than a pair of 16oz gloves.

no they are light so your arms get used to punching fast, i used to always think the heavier the glove the fast you will be when u put on 10's for a fight, it dont work that way.

u need speed more than strength for power, you think if a car hits u at 10mph it will hurt if it hits you at 50mph u will likely die.
