Even a faded Tyson could sell fights with Danny Williams and Kevin McBride. Oscar is supposedly faded and can still sell. It's about the name(s) involved these days. Not how good they are. Some good fighters don't get enough exposure.

Casual fans don't know Margarito either. I would say less know Margarito than Baldomir because Baldomir is now known by a lot more casual fans because he fought Mayweather.

Why is it so hard for you to understand Margarito is just not a draw? ESPN PPV stopped doing boxing PPVs because Margarito-Cintron had terrible numbers. Margarito-Gomez did a pitiful 30k buys. Margarito is on the undercard in his next fight. Do the math...

yes for the most part, but i know around here in vegas when a mexican is fighting everyone knows, in some parts it's forced on you, the info that a mexican is fighting. especially in the hispanic/latin part of town the word spreads like wildfire, that is what i was refering to. not so much an exact name i used margarito becuase out here he is known.

i went to a fight some years back at the MGM and Margarito was sitting up in the cheap seats and he was mobbed by people, mostly mexicans but everyone knew he was. he was actually sitting next to me across the aisle, we were sitting on the end of the opposite rows. but Margarito does have a fan base, not the biggest but when a mexican is fighting the mexican people show their support, always.

I talked to my brother the other day. I asked him if he got the Mayweather fight, he said he did. Well, i tell him what did he think of the fight. He said, "well, we were drinking and after the 9th round we left."

Then he asked me if i seen the countdown. I said yes. Then he said, "man, the countdown was baddass thats what got me hooked."

I then said, "i could have told you what was going to happen." I then asked him if he knew who Margarito was, he now says, yes. Where as before, say 2 months before when i asked him, he said no.

My brothers are boxing fans, im just a hardcore boxing fan. And i follow the sport a lot closer then they do. Don't be mad at me you got no family that is interested in boxing.

I bet you everybody here knows more about boxing then them. They just want to see action fights. Which is why im surprised my brother bought the Mayweather fight. And i should have been more specific, one brother didn't know who Margarito was, another brother did.

Its like this, if your a boxing fan and say you follow the sport, and don't know who Margarito is by now, then you are a casual boxing fan and i dont' think i'd expect that person to know who Margarito is. But the the casual fan is now hearing about him little by little and knowing who he is because now, the boxing programs are talking about him.

Arum could have had him on his undercards years ago, but he does what King does. Once his meal ticket is gone then he brings in the little known fighter and makes him a star, but always knowing the potential this fighter has.
