Hearns would easily match him for speed at 147 and there's just no way I could see Floyd getting inside his jab if he chose to keep him at the end of it.

Hearns wouldn't technically have to throw the right overhand with his height advantage, Floyd leaves enough of a target for him to land straight.

Floyd just doesn't have the tools to win this fight, nor against Leonard.

I'm not saying Tommy's chin was granite; but it was more than that that beat him. You have to give Ray credit for showing heart, determination, and versatility. Tommy was kicking his ass until Ray hurt him; and then Tommy showed his greatness by switching game plans and outboxing Ray. You have to give credit where credit is due. Ray Leonard showed why he was an all time great that night by coming from behind and stopping Tommy.

You two speak of height....the only reason Sugar beat Hearns was because Hearns had a GLASS JAW...Sugars BOXING skill dont compare to Hearns...
Hearns' jaw wasn't that bad, he was exhausted from running round after round and he took all those bodyshots. There mere fact that Leonard was able to hit a 6'1 welter the caliber of Hearns while he was running should speak volumes about what he would do to a 5'8 Mayweather.

Agreed; and let's not forget Tommy's left hook to the body. Hardly anybody talks about it; but that punch set up his straigh right more often than not. Tommy could hurt you with any punch he threw; and Floyd would not be able to beat him. Tommy was too big, too powerful, and too good of a boxer. Tommy was a master technician too. If you can't hurt Tommy, you can't beat him; and Floyd doesn't have enough firepower to beat Tommy, or even get his attention. Floyd gets knocked out in this fight, more than likely, or gets outboxed like Tommy did Benitez at the very least. Floyd could never beat Hearns, IMHO. I'd give him a better chance of beating Ray...and that's the truth.

Only a handful of fighters who have ever lived could beat Tommy Hearns at 147; and Floyd doesn't fit into that handful.

Oh no doubt Sugar i an all-time great and he did show great determination and Hearns. I just dont believe he would have done it again..Hearns was a great fight in my book and so was Sugar. Be most individuals today give Old Schooler too much credit..Pretty Boy is great..How many fighter you know have had to fight with broken baby hands almost every fight and still win. He knows how to switch his style just as a Sugar or Hearns could do...

I feel you playa....Honestly I believe Hearns stands a much better chance against Floyd than Sugar would...

It does grate with me when Hearns gets pidgeon-holed with the straight right and jab. He could do it all when he wanted to. Ray Leonard's my favourite fighter but if I had to put money on who'd come out on top over 10 fights I'd probably pick Hearns, he was that good. That's not to say I think Hearns was better, he just had the perfect tools to beat Ray, and Floyd for that matter.

I'm with you on that, it would be an easier task for Hearns.

The answer to the question. Leanord would beat Mayweather. Leanourd has beaten Hagler and Duran and Hearns.
Mayweather has beaten Castilo and Baldy.

Thanks for putting it in perspective, Floyd looks unbeatable against plodders.
Leonard and Hearns were far from plodders.
