Better legacy Trinidad or De La Hoya??

Both faced a very similar opposition

+ Trinidad has a controversial win over DLH.
    - Trinidad retired on a bad note, taking a one way beating (Wright)

+ DLH - Six division champion
    - Two Losses to Mosley
    173
    Trinidad
    22.54%
    39
    De La Hoya

DLH was the face of boxing for a reason, he will be remembered alot more than Tito.

Tito will have a better legacy as a WW but DLH has more star appeal and marketability to the masses. History will probably look at DLH through rose tinted glasses and mark him as an all time great.

Tito had 1 controversial win. DLH had many more controversial decisions strum, ike, whittaker.

DLH like Tito got demolished when attempting to go to middleweight, however Tito did win a title at middleweight during the tournament.

There is no one of note that DLH fought that Tito didn't fight other than Quartey. Tito didn't fight Quartey because he fell off the map after his controversial loss to DLH.

Tito took on any and all comers at WW and attempted to unify the middleweight division just like he did the WW division. He was unsuccesful but it was a commendable attempt.

DLH fights an exposed Mayorga, damaged Vargas and Oba Carr that Tito demolished and gets applauded as greater than Tito? While great wins for DLH how does this make him greater than Tito?

Tito has 2 losses to 2 great fighters at Middleweight and should have the better legacy by real boxing fans.

For fights, Tito faced the better opposition. Tito fought the common opponents early in their careers where DLH fought faded versions later, ala Vargas, who was never same after Tito. Tito also had fewer gifts given him.

Overall in boxing, though, you have to go with DLH. I don't really like the man, but he was the face of boxing for year, and brought many new fans to the sport. He continues to build a legacy outside the ring by bringing legendary fighters together into Golden Boy Promotions.

Also, even though DLH was given many gifts, (Whittaker, Quartey, Sturm all pop to mind), the one big gift that Tito got was DLH, and that will count in the reckoning more because it was 2 legends in the ring.

Vargas was still the same fighter after tito, after tito beat vargas up. Vargas easily won two fights in a row by tko and won the wba title again before facing oscar. Many people thought oscar won't be the same after what mosley did to him in the first fight but oscar still look the same. I'm sick of people keep saying oscar was give gift decision crap. The whittaker and the quartey fights was easily a close fight that could go either way. Whoever think otherwise is an idiot. The one fight i say oscar should of not won is the sturm fight but that's oscar fought for being way out of shape. The bottomline is oscar has way better legacy then tito and whoever think otherwise don't know crap about boxing.

The Quartey fight was not contreversial. It was a close fight, and Oscar did what he had to do in the twelvth round to earn the victory. The Whitaker fight was not contreversial either, again a close fight but Oscar won. Whitaker never hurt Oscar and ran around the ring and tried to clown the majority of the fight. It was an ugly win for Oscar, but your not gonna look good against Whitaker. I will give you the Strum fight, but I also think that had Oscar would have taken him serioiusly and been in shape he would have easily beaten Strum but i will make no excuses and agree he shouldn't have gotten that decision. It obviously had to do with the Hopkins fight on the horizon.
