Well, Floyd IS presently overrated, but let's not go there...
When in this thread did I say Roy fought "bums"? I never use words like "bums". I'm just saying that his competition wasn't first-rate.
Both of the men you mentioned have talent in abundance... but neither are/did use that talent to its fullest in terms of competition. I don't want to come on this board when Floyd's retired and read how he was an all-time great because he beat Sharmba Mitchell.
what the ****? ROy Jones beat 16 world champions, 15 of them he made them look ordinary. That's more then Eubank, Benn, Watson did in their career so shut the **** up.
I still maintain that you can't say a man is a great unless he's proved that greatness against superior opposition. Otherwise we might as well just say Amir Khan is P4P top ten material right now... because he looks **** hot when he's fighting some little guy from the local car warehouse.
I don't think it works comparing Roy and Khan. Roy fought plenty of good fighters. Kahn is still a prospect. How could Roy fight superior opposition if he was the best? No one is superior to him.
Now, he could have fought some better fighters at 168, sure. But I've been through this over and over and the reasons these fights did not happen cannot be chalked up to simple things like 'Roy was scared and only wanted the money.'
What gets sad and pathetic? Polarising diverse opinions into infantile categories like "haters" and "nuthuggers"? If you don't like the thread or the discussion, don't read it and don't post in it. Simple.
People under the delusion that Roy never fought anybody and ducked DM.
Dont get your panties in a bunch.

This is one of the few times I agree with you. Good Post

AGAIN, a clear indication that it's impossible to have a sensible conversation about this subject. I mean, "shut the **** up"??? Get some manners, boy.
Who the **** mentioned Eubank, Benn and Watson? I didn't mention any of them, so why did you?

You geeky old bastard always criticizing Roy Jones for what he has not done in his career. Tell me if Benn and Eubank actually has beaten any great fighter at all.

See, this is the kind of tautological argument that arises when Roy is discussed - it basically boils down to "he doesn't have to prove he's the best, because he was the best".
Sure, he had some decent opposition, but anyone placing him as an all-time great is basically ****ting on the careers of Ali, Robinson et al.
Oh and FWIW, S_L, I don't particularly care either that Roy didn't fight Darius. What I WAS going to say is that whenever you get one of those old "fifteen years ago" supplements in The Ring and you see Roy at Supermiddle there's rarely, if ever, a top five name in the Ring rankings that he actually fought, it's normally 8-10. The reason I stopped myself is because I knew that if I did that I'd open myself up to - not from you - the usual tedious crap about "yo, you say dat cos your a brit and eubank's and benns didnt fight him lmao, pwned!" And I really couldn't be arsed.
