Why are you mentioning Benn and Eubank? Have I mentioned them? What caused you to bring them up?

And again - WATCH THE NAME CALLING.

Dont get your panties in a bunch.
I thought you were quite an intelligent poster, just misguided. But now after "hater", you follow up with a bland, generic put down like "don't (without the apostrophe in your case) get your panties in a bunch". ****, that's LAME.

Maybe what you need to appreciate and understand is that there's a middleground between a "hater who doesn't think Roy fought anybody and ducked DM" and "nuthugger who thinks Roy's opponents were first rate". A kind of objective, three-dimensional viewpoint on a boxer's career that doesn't have to rely on cartoonish, childish subjective takes on said boxer.

Don't get me wrong, I like Floyd (as a boxer, anyway) but want to see him step up.

I mean, to take one recent example, the P4P #1 (which is a meaningless stat anyway) beat Sharmba Mitchell in six rounds. But although styles make fights, I just saw Williams do it in four and Costa Zoo do it in two. So why aren't those guys in P4P? (I'm not seriously suggesting they should be, you understand...)

It seems that when people talk about Floyd's achievements they have to go back to 2002 and beyond. And for a fighter with such natural talent then spending his career beating up the likes of Arturo Gatti and saying it makes him a "champ" in another weightclass really is a crying shame.

I put Floyd in the same boat as Roy, he's living off his past accomplishments in the same way Roy did, if a fighter becomes P4P#1 respectably, but takes the easy way out, ducking and diving certain fighters (Either out of fear or greed) but still remains undefeated, it seems as though people allow them to remain P4P #1.

          It shouldn't be like that.

I think people seem to have forgot that Floyd is kind of the default P4P #1 anyway... he was labouring around the top 3/top 5 for some time, but when Bernard slipped The Ring needed a name to go up there. It wasn't really his accomplishments that put him up there (though I think they hung it on the Gatti performance) but another fighter falling.

Even after the Castillo performances, Jones and Hopkins were both being infront of him. (And possibly Mosley, though I'm unsure)

And the fact being that he hasn't fought much competition since (Excluding Judah), he still remains P4P#1.

Does that say something about the state of boxing today? Possibly, but will anybody question it? No, he has too many fans.

I'm not going to turn this into a Margarito thread.

He was going to fight Delahoya for the money, and the fact that he knows he can beat him, who wouldn't? Oscar is not a threat to Floyd anymore. (Let's face it, he's a promoter now)

Excluding his last win, Shane Mosley hasn't looked good for 4-5 years, it would have been a big fight because of Mosleys past accomplishments, though I do still think he has a bigger chance than most, but when Floyd did call him out.. nobody thought he did.
