Yes Cotto said he wasn't ready for Floyd when he was @ 140 lbs.Lol okay. What about when Cottos corner admitted that they were not ready for pretty boy floyd in 2005 against Arturo Gatti?
Anyway, he fought and beat Cotto (who was off one of his biggest and most satisifying wins in his career) and won pretty convincgly though Cotto made Floyd work (something pacquiao couldnt do for most of his exitsence)
EDIT: Very funny that everyone was calling Mayweather out when he was retired. Anyway, it makes no sense that you duck someone you fight.
My post is clearly when he was still undefeated @ 147 and declared himself ready.
Manny and Margarito had already ravaged Cotto by the time Floyd finally made the fight. Floyd only got a points win we had already seen that. How much credit you want to give him for that. This was a recurring pattern that Floyd gets the most flack for.
Again, he was on a 2 years vacation, or retired, when Cotto, Shane, Margarito, P. Will was calling him out, but the only one he heard was a lightweight Marquez?Comment

Okay. So then you admit that Cotto said that he wasn't ready himself. Good. No one wanted to fight floyd below 140. It was becuase he was small all these welterweights call them out. Theres a reason Mosley chose to move up to WW and face Oscar instead of Floyd @135.
Cotto had also beaten Margarito horribly and forced him to retire on the stool, and as by Cotto's own words, it was his most satisfiying victory. This was also when Cotto was viewed as the best 154lber in the world, and Mayweather didn't even make the weight limit.
Im sure this is a video of Paul Williams claiming that Mayweather didn't duck him, and that the timing was never right. He ended up fighting Mosley and Cotto so I dont know your next point.Comment

—————I think this was when Floyd was ducking the division for two years 2008
Classic Quote: Cotto Calls Out Floyd 2008

A lot of ring observers do not know that Miguel Cotto was eager to put his then-undefeated record up against Floyd Mayweather in a Welterweight unification clash of the unbeatens in 2008 however the greatest ducker of all time wasn’t up for that challenge. Mayweather and his team claimed to the media Cotto wasn’t a big enough name and he didn’t draw big enough pay-per-view numbers to deserve a fight with Mayweather when it was prime time in 2008. But here is a quote from the normally respectful Miguel Cotto that questions the bravery of Floyd and clearly shows he meant business and wanted to put his fists on the pound-for-pound pretender.
“When you call yourself the best boxer in the world you have to fight with the best. There are other names at 147 pounds and if Mayweather does not have the courage to get in the ring to fight with me, my career has to continue. I won’t wait for him.” –Miguel Cotto 2008
..but he heard that callout from lightweight Marquez doe
And then we have these facts too .....
This is what Floyd said then ..
“This fight could've happened a long time ago, when both fighters were with Top Rank at that particular time,” Mayweather said. “But I think Bob Arum saw that I wasn't any ordinary fighter.”

* What facilty was this bastard talking about? Was there a facilty that was built when they finally fought? 👇
Arum contends that the issue was the timing of the proposed fight. The May 5th deadline left not enough to time have construction of a facility completed.
Boxing fans can stop pinching themselves because the dream that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather would fight this May has ended. SI...
Bottomlinr is, Arum did not want his guys to get beat. He milked Cotto until Cotto left him.
He did the same with PACComment

It would obviously be a lot tougher than their actual fight but I’d still go with Pacquiao at 147 lbs and under.
I think as an orthodox fighter you need a great right hand to beat Manny. With Oscar being a left handed fighter who fights orthodox he was quite left hand heavy and that probably works against him in this matchup even at his best.Comment
