But Oscar got gift decisions against sweet pea and quartey and while he lost to Trinidad, that was the fight he actually won.

Pernell was close ,he beat Quartey and he really should've beat Trindad who landed next to nothing. But you could say Canelo lost to an old Floyd ,lost to Lara and lost to Golovkin first time. But no one on Canelos list were young guys on the way up or in their prime.Quartey ,Trinidad,Mosley,Vargas all young in their prime .Cotto,Mosley,Golovkin, Kovalev all on the slide in the twilight years.Doesnt compare.

Vargas wasn’t in his prime at all.

Only fought him after Tito stopped him and he looked vulnerable after.

Hmm. Oscar has an official win over Pernell Whitaker. Probably the best win between the two, most will tell you Pea probably got robbed. I think Pea won but its pretty close. He also has wins against Chavez and and Camacho Camacho wasn't prime tho. All of those fighters are HOFers. First ballot. I think Oscar is a bit above for that reason. He probably should also have a win over Trinidad lol. But whatevs.

He was still young and only once beaten by a genuine great, not like say Kovalev, old ,twice stopped ,once by a journeyman ,nearly stopped by a domestic level fighter last time out.Now how about all the other comparisons I made?

Canelo is not de la Hoya level and he will never be.

But they were pretty much all classics, Oscar was the real deal no doubt about it , there were a lot of killers around that time and he fought them all, Oscar is very under rated by the now crowd.

Still young in age but not close to prime.

Dropped by a journeyman in his fight after Trinidad showing clear vulnerabilities he’d never shown before.

Then Oscar decided to fight him.

I still don’t think Canelo is up there yet since he doesn’t really have a signature win apart from the close GGG fights. And he’s yet to garner the star power that De La Hoya had.
YOUR question is if he’s greater then u comment on STAR POWER. Makes no sense
I think Canelo has a better over all range than DLH. Resume is about the same. Canelo can jump up in weight and still be deadly DLY, not so much. Ive never seen Canelo look VULNERABLE even when Mayweather beat him.
