Sad news, he wasn't even that old yet. I was pretty young when he was around but I can remember where I was sitting when he put Chavez down...and can still hear Steve Albert making the call. The Surgeon and he would come to the ring with the stethoscope and mask on. RIP champ

Rest In Peace Champ! You will be missed! He would go down in history as the first man to have ever defeated Julio Cesar Chavez and also the first man to have ever drop him to the canvas; Which was something that Oscar De La Hoya could have never achieved. In addition, Frankie was winning his rematch with Chavez too before the fight was stopped on cuts.Last edited by champion4ever; 12-23-2020, 07:18 PM.Comment

RIP to The Surgeon Frankie Randall, was unlucky not to get the nod in the rematch as well.
Unfortunately suffered with head trauma, a poignant example of a fighter going on way too long. I remember he was absolutely done against Margarito and must’ve fought another 10-15 times after that.
RIP...Comment

Not sure I’ve seen it myself tbh man. I definitely think Randall did enough to win the first fight, especially with the knockdowns. The second fight was a TD after 4 or 5 rounds and Randall had been put down, so was behind. I can’t really remember much else about that one though tbh. I was a kid when Randall was mixing it with JCC and Coggi so I didn’t watch any of them live, the only fights I’ve seen of Randall are on YouTube or on tape.Comment

Yeah I had him in front through 8. I think he could’ve made it a little clearer had the fight continued. I think he only lost the fight by like a point on two of the cards as well.Comment
