An excellent fighter in his prime, and always a hard worker in the ring. Such a terrible ending though, and at such a young age. I watched a few go downhill with it... indeed a dreaded illness. R.I.P. Champ.

Watched my Grandfather with it for 7 years. You wish the lord would take them instead of them endure as a shell of their former selves. It’s sad to watch the memories they fondly used to speak about become a gaping black hole of nothingnessComment

Sad news man, didn't know Frankie struggled like that later in life. I remember the story about him taking in a young kid from Grand Rapids Michigan whose dad was in prison at the time and having him stay in his house and watch him train/live as a pro and as a champion, he gave that kid fine things and showed him that hard work pays off, that kid grew up to be Floyd Mayweather Jr.. RIP Frankie!
Note: all the role models Floyd mentions in the video suffered later in life due to boxing and left us way too soon, Pernell Whitaker, Roger Mayweather and Frankie Randall. Boxing is so brutal and 2020 sucks, but that's why Floyd was carefulLast edited by Dip_Slide; 12-24-2020, 12:58 AM.Comment

It’s rather interesting the number of casuals that fill these boards. It’s very evident actually when you only get 55 comments for the passing of a legend. Yet you’ll get 600+ on fight night from fanboi casuals moist in the panties celebrity chasing their favorite fighter defending his honor to the end.
RIP champ you deserve more and I’m glad to call the 55 that did comment before me true fans of the sport.Comment

I been a Chavez fan all of my life.
January 29, 1994 was the grand opening of the MGM Grand Garden (in Las Vegas), Julio César Chávez vs Frankie Randall.
Chávez came into the fight with an 89-0-1 record and was an 18-to-1 favorite. Randall won the early rounds, and in the middle of the fight began to build a large lead on the scorecards. Chavez was deducted a point for a low blow in the 7th rd. Chávez then rallied by the 10th round, Randall held a narrow lead. Chávez landed a 2nd low blow that cost him a point.
In the 11th round Chávez went down for the first time in his career.
Randall was named WBC light welterweight champion on a split decision. Chavez disputed the decision but we all saw it.
10 years later they fought a third time. Chavez won a 10 rounder.
Truth be told it was just a retirement party for Chavez.
In his prime Frankie Randall beats Chavez every time.
Every fighter has that one guy he can't beat.
R.I.P. Champ!
When my favorite fighters loose, I always say lookout for for the Frankie Randall's.Last edited by TJ highway; 12-24-2020, 03:27 AM.Comment
