Comments Thread For: Verdejo Reflects on Loss To Nakatani, Open To Have Rematch

Puerto Rican lightweight contender Felix Verdejo is doing well and looking forward to rebuilding his career - after suffering a big setback earlier this month. After building some steam with a looming 2021 clash with unified champion Teofimo Lopez, the unexpected took place as Verdejo was knocked out in the ninth round by Japanese slugger Masayoshi Nakatani.

Impressed with his comments. Honest and not trying to blame anyone but himself. I actually became more of a fan of Verdejo from that loss to Nakatani. Hope he can bounce back.

I’ve always been fond of Verdejo’s attitude. He’s such a stand up guy with a great attitude. He kind of reminds of Cotto. Hopefully he can bounce back from his loss and put on a better performance in the rematch.

I felt exactly the same after reading the article as long as he learns from this and gets better ill be rooting for him . Honestly even in defeat this was by far the strongest/sharpest he's ever looked . He was just to wild with his shots and went off balance almost every round that waste a ton of energy. He is right he would beat some champions out their like Jamal Herring for example

Love the attitude and how he's handling it, but that's the second time he gets upset by an inferior opponent he was dominating and by KO. Still rooting for him to live up to the high potential he has shown, but he seems to be something less than the sum of his parts. When things aren't going his way, he can't find a way to change it and eventually falls apart. Hope he comes back stronger.

Verdejo was envisioned to be the next Tito Trinidad. But with 17 KOs in 56 fights & 2 recent KO losses, he won't be able to hold Trinidad's shoe laces, let alone fill his shoes.

The fight game is a tough business.
You just hate to see a fighter get too hyped before they have actually proven themselves.
Tough loss against a tough opponent.
Hope he grows from it and be the better for it.
