Canelo's work rate is generally appalling - he fights in patches and then eases off to rest. Golovkin out worked him in BOTH fights. I Golovkin was being so hesitant then why was Canelo's eye bleeding as early as round 4 you awful cretin?

why did Hypekin throw hardly any bodyshots ?

even when Canelo sat on the ropes? ... nothing !!

where was all that... cutting off the ring, and breaking down his opponent... what happened to all that stuff

and in the rematch... what happened to that "stand and fight like a Mexican" bullshyt??

even Roy Jones was calling Golovkin a runner after that fight

In this video interview caught by Fight Hub TV, HBO commentator Roy Jones Jr. gives his account of the Canelo-Golovkin rematch. "Golovkin’s trainer said he want Canelo to stand there and fight...Then ya’ll ran! But ya’ll said he ran, but ya’ll ran! You can’t do that and think they gonna give you the fight!"

Although it wasn't a forced mandatory there was a business deal done in principle. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo knew this - knowing that Golovkin was tied up and with DAZN relentlessly trying to force the trilogy he attempted to make the fight knowing full well it couldn't materialize.
It wasn't a forced mandatory and DAZN would have much preferred a Canelo vs Golovkin trilogy.

      Golovkin refused, though.

So it was on to the next one for Alvarez. And despite getting the run around he still ended up facing a more attractive opponent than Golovkin did.

He should be getting praise for that not criticism.

You clearly know *** all bout boxing. Canelo was trying to walk Golovkin down whilst always staying in the pocket but Golovkin would either take a step to the left & right and then reset or he'd circle around Alvarez. People gave Canelo far more credit for coming forwards in the rematch than was warranted because obviously it looks better than the literal backwards running around all 4 corners of the ring he did in the first fight.

You have to call it as it is... you can always apply pressure and stay in the pocket but its about EFFECTIVE AGGRESSION. Whats the point in trying to force pressure when you eat a multitude of power jabs to the face? Nothing would change if a trilogy ever sees the light of day... Canelo will try to stalk Golovkin but he'd be timed coming in with jabs all over again.

And all the while GGG following Canelo 'round the ring instead of using some talent to cut OFF the ring. There's a disconnect somewhere in the Canelo hater's DNA. Where... we may never discover.

Have to agree... although some in the Canelo Haters Club have a high enough rep... you'd think their boxing knowledge would make them know better. Guess not. Oh well... take all types to make a world.

Thanx, never though of that aspect of it. But then, I'm generally not that petty in life. Will keep it in mind though.

              • Looks like Canelo seems to have pulled another victory out off his hat, I wonder what the next due course off fight options there are for him at super middleweight?

There is definitely interest/demand for him from the lower division from the current champions there from GGG to Charlo..

Only way is forward I guess he appears to be continuously increasing his stock/record in the divisions he competes in by beating most off the guys on top in their respective divisions...

                • As much as I don't care for Canelo's modus operandi in selecting opponents, nor his general attitude outside of the ring, I cannot resist being impressed with his fighting abilities. I cannot even recall Canelo being actually visibly hurt or in trouble (I haven't watched every minute of every single one of his fights) though I have seen him losing according to the rules of boxing against Mayweather, GGG, and Lara.
This guy defies the obvious disadvantages that should apply in a fight against a guy who is 6" taller and has a 7" reach advantage.
I can only propose that Canelo has a tailor-made mind and body perfectly suited to boxing. His build reminds me of Mike Tyson, and his determined focus is apparent. Is he still yet to fight a fighter who is perceived as equal?

you got that right. Floyd and Lara are enough for him.
