Even Gatti was out of his prime. Two different fighters.
Plus you act like Floyd was 23 when he fought Maidana. He was old.
Yet when you say Sugar Ray, you mean him in his prime, not when he was shot and taking Ls. Either one; Leonard or Robinson.
Maidana against Floyd @140, against the one who trashed Gatti, would have beat Maidana down.
Floyd needs to be 140 and prime to thrash a slow flat footed short armed Madonna?
Who else did Floyd beat @ 140 a prime Chop Chop Corley? Did he even stop Corley?
Even the 30+ year old Sugar Ray who did Hearns 2, Duran 3 and Lalonde would cut down a paper champ like Maidana pick a weight.Last edited by djtmal; 12-19-2020, 04:12 PM.Comment

My opinion is my opinion you don’t have to cry about it.So how do you explain so many lists that put Duran ahead of Floyd at 135, Srl ahead of Floyd at 147, and both of those guys consistently in top ten all time great lists with Floyd barely hitting top 30.
Duran was a full-fledged welterweight when he fought Srl. He didn't make the leap in one fight unlike Marquez, who in one fight went up two weight classes to fight Floyd at a catchweight of 144 pounds, and Floyd still welched on the scales, and nobody in their right mind would confuse Marquez with Duran.Comment

Leonard has physical advantages over Floyd which would help him in a one on one match up. But p4p I think Floyd is the more complete all around better fighter. How would you know? Duran is as great a fighter as Floyd is minus the indiscipline so don’t spew this garbage that Duran can never beat Floyd. Floyd will have to fight hands of stone cos he doesn't have the power to keep him off. I ll giveFloyd the slight edge cos I know what am getting but the one that beat SRL in the first I believe beats FloydComment

Based on what?
....and you completely ducked the Duran statement....
Duran started at the same weights as Floyd, went as far as 168 and grabbed a belt.
They was making excuses for Floyd when it came to making a catchweight fight with GGG @ 154.
But Floyd is better overall?Comment

Ray is the og ducking ass *****, hard to give Ray credit for facing the best when he ducked hearns almost a decade and took a monumental legacy's changing giftGtfoh. The best guy Floyd beat at his best was prime undefeated Ricky Hatton, and Floyd beat Manny by a wide margin my a@@, he barely outpointed a past prime Manny in a lackluster affair which he mostly did more holding than anything else.
This Floyd beat Manny exaggeration just keeps getting worse and worse and yeah, we know saying he beat Manny sounds a lot more prestigious than beating Ricky Hatton, but the truth of the matter is, beating a past prime Manny doesn't come close to beating a prime undefeated Hatton and to a lesser degree an undefeated Canelo Alvarez.
Sugar Ray didn't need two tries to beat Duran because Duran was better than Manny, it's because it was two guys in their prime equally as good that needed two fights to settle who was the best. That's what the game is all about.
Maybe Floyd skillwise is a little better technically than Ray, but when it comes to who put their skills to the test and came out on top against prime opposition, Ray runs circles around Floyd. Furthermore, its no coincidence that most top ten ww lists Ray comes out on top of Floyd (top two or three consistently), while Floyd barely cracks top ten. Floyd just did not want to take the necessary risks with the skills he had.Comment

He stopped a prime undefeated Hearns, I am not going to beef too much about the rematch wait.
Hagler that's a different story but even Hagler wasn't a shopworn shell of himself by the time he and Ray fought.Comment
