Is daring to be great really worth it these days in boxing? can any fighter really become great?

Sometimes it is best to hold station, and wait for big fights to materialize.

Brook would of faced Spence Junior in better condition if he was just held back etc
I get it what Kell & others do & wouldn't say its not worth it, but from my own POV I admit I'd take a more cautious approach & be fighting the worst guy for the most money I could for as much of my career as I could if I was a pro boxer.

Y'all would be talking so much sh^t about me if I was a high level pro boxer with the strategy I would be working on the business side of boxing lmfao.

Was it for the money? It was just a bad piece of promoting and advice towards Brook.

Kell Brook was at the time at 147 and undefeated, eventually he would of gotten big fights at 147 or 154 pounds 'Big fights and winnable fights'. If Brook was with Frank Warren at that time, I don't think Warren would of pushed Brook to fight Golovkin etc

That one defeat took Brooks undefeated record, bad injuries and plunged him into darkness 'Since his comeback, he has been mocked continually'.

All this nonsense you see fighters like Chisora saying 'I do this for the fans' That is great, but in reality not all fans are that deep 'In the moment, you are just merely entertainment for them' not all of them, but a lot.

There was a point in David Haye's career where he become the dark night, he realized these fans really don't care 'So I don't really care about them'.

Note: You don't just jump up in weight and take on a fighter like Golovkin, that is something you work towards step by step. Roy Jones Junior was not just going to face Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis, he planned on taking John Ruiz out 'Then facing them'.

I once asked a boxing coach, what part of the sport do you enjoy most? And he responded the amateur side if the sport 'Because it is purely about competition' when it comes to the fighters, it is all about 'I want to face you, I want to beat you' that is why the Olympics is still the pinnacle of pure sporting competition.

The word 'Amateur' in Latin comes from he word Amatore which means 'Lover'. Who is more driven innately and dangerous, those who do it for the passion or those who do it for extrinsic motives 'A amateur is not a low status'.

Idr how much he got paid, but I'd assume he got paid above his going rate. Thus it was a money thing to some degree. I don't doubt legacy stuff played into it, but thats more about money than fans wanna act like to. Signing autographs for $30 a pop cuz you beat GGG 20 years ago doesn't mean nothing compared to the extra millions you can make in your next fights after you beat GGG.

And if you fight GGG & can't beat him than thats just the risk you take as we all take in anything we fail at that may have consequences that hurt oneself physically, financially or mentally. We all know how this works. Are there tougher consequences in boxing? Sure I wouldn't argue there can be. But can the rewards be much sexier? Absolutely. High risk, high reward is a common theme in many things.

And the stuff about fans not loving boxers is standard in all sports & everyone should know & accept that going in. Boxers understand or should understand the meat market they operate in & they should know from their own experience as fans of past boxers or athletes in other sports that the attention is fading & they never payed Roy Jones' rent back when they were a fan of his either.

On paper, Brook had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Add in the element of a strong possibility for a career-altering injury and he had everything to lose and no gain.

Unfortunately I do too, Kell would definitely do it.

It’s just whether Khan has any other options left.

Khan never wanted to give Kell the payday and also probably never wanted to risk losing to him.

Now Kell is that shot, Khan probably takes the win decisively. So I think he might be tempted.

But that face breaking loss to Golivkin took something out of him also.

The effort it took Brook to get that GGG fight he should have spent that same energy during his prime. What does Brook have to show for his career ? Porter and Devon ?

Maybe they should both chip in to pay for the fight hahahaha
