This theory is more ideal when a fighter is stuck with a promoter, hence the protection. Canelo could by like Mikey. Mikey fought Spence at what risk/cost? He then made a high pay grade against Jessie Vargas and the talks were that he was going to face PAC had the pandemic not hit.

I think this was more a case of favorable circumstances for mikey more than anything. Haymon PBC needed a Hispanic fighter with some name recognition to propel Spence's ppv run and who better in Texas than Mikey? His purse for Vargas was at a time when DAZN(Hearn) was throwing ridiculous amount of purses at fights that barely moved the needle,those days are over. As far as Pac,again favorable circumstances for Mikey...Hispanic with a fanbase and less of threat than Spence or Crawford for a farewell fight.

Dan thinks the boxing world revolves around the US alone. Plenty of boxers have a big following outside of the states and would still bring lots of money and PPV buys.

Beterbiev,Bivol and Benavidez fights aren't happening anytime soon,if ever. The risk of him losing those fights are high enough where theyre not going take that chance and kill canelos marketability right off the bat. PBC alone doesn't seem to have funds to pay the high purses canelo and jermall would no doubt be seeking,regardless of ppv percentages. So that leaves sweet hands....a fight I like but plant was asking for a 12 month training camp when asked about a canelo fight before so a Dec19 fight with him seems unlikely.

I agree, this is far more difficult and messy than people think. Beterbiev, Bivol are never going to happen. Jemall will want at least 10 to 12 million and it takes 300k PPVs just to guaranty 5 million. Now that streaming is more widely accepted the uncontrollable free streaming will continue eat deeper into each consecutive PPV event.
