He received a guaranteed 15 million and 60% of the ppv so I’m pretty sure it was closer to 35 million than 17 million

It still amazes me that a guy who got basically shut out by Mayweather gets the reward of making $35 million a fight just because he fought Mayweather and is the star of boxing......again he got schooled by Mayweather but yeah let’s crown him since we need a “boxing star”.

Canelo is not worth $35 million a fight. I just don’t see it, no fighter is. I swear the top boxers are getting paid too much. Somebody has to help me out and explain how paying Canelo $35 million is profitable especially when PPV buys are low and opponents are worse.

I think the money was a factor. I was only quoting what he said. But the main factors were: 1) DAZN would only approve freaks shows -- fights with Oscar, MMA guys and such --- preventing him from fighting other champions and 2) Oscar was totally dishonest. The combination of these factors and others were the big motivators.

Why would other promoters agree to forego millions of dollars for themselves and their fighters by not having their fighters fight Canelo? For one, that makes no economic sense and two, that behavior is collusion and violates federal anti-trust laws. The penalties for that are financially severe and might include time in prison.

Because Canelo wasn’t given the full 154 limit like Cotto with Mayweather. A “schooling” is attacking Canelo nonstop, not counter attacking. It was two Champs unifying. Canelo engaged most of the time. Why didn’t the other Champ engage Canelo more? Cotto didn’t have a disadvantage like Marquez or Canelo with clauses. I guess Mexicans are more dangerous than Puerto Ricans.

yes Dazn was ****** with those request but that’s not all they’d approve. They approved Andrade for a fight last year and canelo declined. They approved Saunders and smith but golden boy said they priced themselves out. Dazn clearly wanted the ggg fight but canelo declined. He’s as much to blame as dazn for everything that went wrong.

the good ol weight excuse. I mean if that’s a valid excuse then we’re gonna have to call into question all of canelos fights where he implemented catch weights and rehydration clauses then. With the mayweather loss, we’ll also ignore that canelo asked for the fight at 150 and was given 152. We’ll also ignore how canelo still made 154 a full 3 years after fighting Floyd but was somehow drained at 152 in 2013. Not to mention , Canelo only weighed in at the full 154 pound limit 3 times during his entire career up to that point. I don’t think it was a case of the Mexican being more dangerous, he was just dumber.

You already owned yourself. You strategically omitted Marquez. Why did Mayweather agree to a 144 catch promotion with the smaller Lightweight to them in the final hour say 146 or no fight? Marquez was going to walk away and saved the fight to please Mayweather fans.

Mayweather has always been afraid of Mexicans since Castillo.
