    That is why I follow 175, 168, 160, 154,147, 140,135 and 130 much more than I follow heavyweights.

Not a myth. The more young athletes go out for a sport the more elite ones your able to find. The guys Tyson was fighting was the product of so many young athletes trying to box young and the best one’s sticking with it to the top.
A fraction of youngsters care or are interested in boxing so you find less pro prospects overall.

I know a lot of people loved watching Tyson KO electricians, builders and binmen, but I'm not one of those people.
Bowe was not in his prime against Golota, far from it.
He didn't train and would eat fast food.
Bowe's prime was against Holyfield, a fight he won easy, that version of Bowe would be champ now, beat Wilder with his jab anyone.
We can tell you weren't around at the time, nobody who watched boxing at that time would have thought Bowe was prime, he was shot and speech was slowing down.

It is the most competitive division in boxing.

Man, I am European, I just see what I see. But I must say, it has a potential.

              90s great wasn`t great either.

Lets be honest, it may not have great depth because kids coming up now need to be super-heavyweights and KO artists to get anywhere. There are too many low-calibre fighters coming through who just get lined up to get knocked out by the current HW crop. If you haven't got that wow factor KO power and you're under 6ft 5, you ain't going to turn the heads of the big promoters.

Plus, there is too much hype surrounding fighters that then get sparked out at the first big hurdle - for example; Hrgovic stopping Rydell Booker was on the boxing news feed making it seem like Rydell Booker was the stepping stone to Fury or Joshua. SMH.

When the old guard retire i.e. Povetkin, Ortiz etc, there will be a gap for some younger fighters to spring up and make a statement. If none of them can, not a lot else we can do. Who really wants to get in the ring with a ***** monster like Joshua, Wilder or Fury? The paycheck is not worth the brain damage.

Hrgovic, Ajagba, Yoka, Dubois, Joyce, Dychko, Makhmudov...should. They are all big enough.

Out of all of these fighters, who has actually done anything for casuals to take notice? Because thats how the boxing world survives; casuals buying PPV - not us lot talking about it on a niche boxing forum.

I agree with you, we are in some transition.

You have Fury and Joshua as champs, Wilder as ex champ, Usyk as contender. The rest contenders are old or have already lost to champ. Future contenders are still waited to step up.
