The simple fact is he couldn’t get fights with other top 147 fighters. Now idiots on here will say ‘he ducked xxxx fighter’ or ‘he didn’t want this fight’ - can they please explain how someone ‘ducks’ 147 fighters but moves up 2 weight divisions to a division he didn’t belong in, to fight the most feared fighter at that weight, and one of, if not the most feared fighter at any weight at that time. Then moves straight back down 2 divisions to defend his belt against Spence, a difficult fight he didn’t have to take.
Now I don’t know why other 147 fights didn’t happen, and so Brook never fulfilled his talent (boxing politics is bull****e). But the thing that is certain is that Brook who beat Porter would have given absolutely anybody else hell at the weight.
Right now though? I don’t know what Brook has left but he clearly isn’t the fighter he was, and going down to 147 again to face Crawford is a big ask. Yet he’s taken the fight and will give it a shot. I hope he rolls back the years and gives a performance worthy of his talent.
