Lopez now @135 = Broner when he was at 135.

Broner at 135 was a good, but not great, fighter. He had largely abandoned his offense-first style and increased his counterpunching after beating Ponce de Leon - a fight some felt that Broner lost.

He idolized Floyd, just like Lopez apparently now does, even to the point of trying to master the shoulder roll defense.

    But key points.

Broner, like Lopez, always wanted to fight at range. The only times he was in any sort of trouble is when his opponent had a higher workrate or was able to deal with him on the inside.

    So here's the question.

Who is Lopez's Ponce de Leon? In other words, who's inside game is so strong that it "exposes" Lopez?

he was pretty much exposed in the second half of the fight, he lost 5 out of 6 rounds against a guy who was a lot smaller than him. loma was overly cautious at the start, possibly as a result of shoulder injury and lack of crowd but once he put it on him lopez didnt have many answers, he was getting lit up in there.

Broner would never have beaten anyone as good as Loma

You can talk about technical aspects and styles and things like that, but there’s also levels involved and Lopez has proven he can beat someone of a much higher level than brother who fell short when he fought good level fighters

      It’s all about levels.

You only really get your weaknesses exposed by people who are near your level. A very good inside fighter at domestic level fighter is not going to expose a world-class fighter who doesn’t fight well inside.

So anybody that can beat Lopez and expose any holes is going to have to be operating on a very high level to do it, regardless of style. It won’t be someone on the level of Ponce De Leon, no disrespect to him, he was a decent fighter.

To the bold: so are you saying that Lou del Valle was on prime Roy Jones' level because he exposed glass?

Fights I'd like to see Teofimo in; Josh Taylor, Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis. Some cracking fights there, Lopez's stock has rocketed, the kid done good!

This thread makes you look really bad revelated.

Broner never got help for issues outside of the ring. Teo went and got help for issues.

Teo is not known to engage in the same type of out of training behavior that Broner has exhibited.

Lastly Teo hasn’t had any experience yet being the type of draw Broner was. Broner obviously got caught up in all the hype.

You seem desperate to denigrate Teo because you picked Loma to win.

You can do better than this.

I do not think anyone's inside game is strong enough to bow Lopez down if you will, if Lomachenko couldn't do it who we know has got good pop and who can land complex combos on the inside to the point he has been dubbed the "MATRIX a fictional storyline where the laws of physics does not apply to the chosen one" couldn't do it I dont see others doing it. Now he might get rocked by a more Powerful puncher on the inside but thats different than getting bested skillwise on the inside (small distinction that ultimately is irrelevant as the end goal is to just do damage but in breaking down a fighters skills etc it matters).

About the shoulder roll, using the shoulder roll does not necessarily mean you idolize Floyd, the shoulder roll is actually a superior technique in blocking certain punches to allow you to counter out of with a more powerful counter as opposed to boxing's traditional guard that does not put you into position to explode out with a powerful counter when you block a certain shot.

Adrien Broner could only dream of winning a round against Lomachenko let alone beating him.
