I think he could gain respect if he start all from sqaure one and go top and fight clinch the MW titles.

That is the only way Vargas could shut the boxing crtics and make more fans.

He got the skills too to go with it he could skills and power so I think he could retain his glory back and better it all depends on him.

Vargas has the most heart of any boxer out there today, no matter what ANYBODY says. Who could stand up to Tito and take that beating? Get up from five knockdowns, all which were knockout punches? Challenge DLH and give him the worse beating of his life in five rounds, steroids or not? Go toe to toe with Mosley in their first fight? And make Yori Boy Campas quit with only sixteen pro fights under the belt? NOBODY ELSE, thats who. If you don't respect Vargas then your a true hater who doesn't know what heart or courage is. And trash talking, gives him the "El Feroz" nickname he has. He would trash talk the other fighter, make them **** their pants, then get and the ring and deliver them a guaranteed beating. You have to be ferocious in and out of the ring. Respect goes to Vargas and **** all the haters.

Great post!!!!! I will always love Vargas for what he gave us. I feel that he may have been pushed to fast to soon, but Vargas would have never backed down from anyone and that is what made him who he was. You have to respect a fighter that is going to go out and give you everything he had evrytim out. Getting up from the three knockdowns to Tito tells you all you need to know about what kind of fighter he is, and to comeback and knock him down and turn the fight around. I also feel that had Tito not have hit him low after the knockdown that he may have taken him out in that round. Even after that he completely tuned the fight around and was winning until the last couple of rounds. You have to respect a fighter like that. He always knew how to make adjustments in a fight and comeback effectively if something wasn't working for him. I really hate to see how hw has declined and I just hope that he retires because I don't want to see him get hurt or tarnish what he has accomplished by continuing. Just like Gatti you have to always give Fernando all the respect in the world.

at one point vargas had the skills to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world... steroids must of really ****ed him up gone his speed and agility... when he was 21 i saw him go 7 rounds agains yory boy with out getting hit once.

But Vargas is a HUGE ******* with all that fake "Aztec Warrior" garbage. He goes to the weigh-in and press conferences all menacing and foaming at the mouth and then gets his ass handed to him in the ring. This happened vs. Tito. Then vs. Oscar. He talked SO MUCH **** before the ODLH fight. And then Oscar KO'd him.

He got legitimately beaten by Shane. Did anyone of you see repeated head butts? Talked **** at the post-fight press conference. So, Shane gets him back in the ring and beats the spit out of him.

According to Atrocious Fernando Vargas, he has never lost: my nutritionist gave me steroids. I ate cereal for a month to make weight. I had dry toast the day of the fight. Yadda yadda. Always an excuse.

I won't call him overrated b/c he was never really rated as a really elite fighter. He just had a huge following b/c he claimed to be a "real" Mexican [whatever the **** that is] and HBO knew he could put up big ppv #s.

And talking trash, many fighters talk trash to hype themselfs up, can't anybody climb into the ring or get up after every knock down as he has. Takes balls... hes put himself out their many times and few fighters are willing to do that.

Ferocity I disagree with you on some things but your 100% right on this. Vargas had huge heart in getting up against Trinidad at so young an age and actually making a good fight of it. Vargas is a very talented fighter who just so happend to lose to some Great fighters in DLH, Tito and Mosely. Hell how many guys can say they beat Winky Wright but came up a little short versus those 3 guys. Nothing to be ashamed of he tested his metal against the best, gave a good showing of himself but came up short.
