Based on what bro? Aside from the Joshua upset, Ruiz hasn’t done all that much in his career. His resume is trash tbh, people forget he couldn’t even stop the shell of Liakovich and guys like Franklin Lawrence and Raphael Zumbano.

Ruiz isn’t some dangerous HW people need to be wary of, he was just in the right place at the right time against a vulnerable champion.

Povetkin - has a fight lined up
        Wallin -
        Whyte - fighting Povetkin
        Ruiz -
Malik Scott - is his trainer ?
Stiverne 3 - is he still fighting ?
        Pulev - Fighting AJ
        lucas Browne -

So the only reasonable choices are Andy, Lucas and Otto. Whoever is available will do. Andy would be nicer.

I think he's up there enough in age & has made solid money already that he should fight Fury since he has the contract saying he gots next.

If somehow that doesn't happen I think you take the biggest fight you can get. AJ would be #1. The Povetkin vs Whyte rematch winner would be #2. Andy Ruiz might be #3. Stay in the upper echelon of HW's & stay as relevant as you can basically.

If he needs a confidence builder due to the Fury loss I'd say fight a Helenius or random past prime guy with some name value or a Otto Wallin type young green guy. Then move to the biggest fight you can get.

Wilder ain't got many fights left. A 5 fight getback schedule vs no names or easy W type guys is doing nothing for him. He needs to stay relevant & on the radar of the tip top guys or retire to count his money.

            PBC Belt at stake?

Or I'm sure the WBC could come up with one.

Depends on when will Wilder fight next and if he has any injury.

Realistically, considering all things such as availability, marketability, promoter choices, etc., it could be Martin or Kownacki. Miller would have been in the mix if not for testing postive. Whyte/Povetkin are fighting next. Ruiz wouldn't fight Wilder as they would like to win a match or two and rematch AJ. Most outsiders wouldn't be able to generate cash in the USA (no gate, PPV only) so its probably some American or Latino. It depends if Kownacki would fight Wilder but that could be a sellable fight.

Parker, Otto, etc. type fighter cannot sell a HW fight in the US on PPV.

If he doesn't fight Fury that is the biggest fight he can get. I doubt AJ will fight him since they will be looking to fight Fury.

Completely agree, but in terms of staying relevant... when did we last hear anything from Wilder?

If he wants to stay relevant then you'd think he might speak, post or appear in some form?

Which makes me wonder whether he's actually a broken man and finished with the sport.

                      Could be.

I have zero doubt it was a humbling loss for him. And sometimes those types of humbling experiences get you more introspective about things which could be why he's been quiet as he's rebuilding his confidence or just focusing on correcting what he legitimately thinks caused that loss...and I doubt in his heart of hearts he thinks it had anything to do with his outfit or Mark Breland.
